We were 6-1 down on the penalties after 15 minutes and few of them were anything more than 50/50's. Had the ball twice in that time. Defended brilliantly for the first 5 or so about 50 straight tackles in our own 20, but that takes it out of you and we opened up under the flood of possession to conceed 20 points by the 20 minute mark.
Once the ref decided he'd had enough fun at our expense the game evened right out and he held them 12 all until the last minute when they scored on the bell for 38-12. That said the chooks played (especially at the beginning) at another level of intensity. We were matching them but without the ball couldn't hang on. Their defence was awesome (if decidedly quick off the line :roll: ) and we just couldn't get through em. As usual they were consistent and played the full 80 whilst we were inconsistent and played well for about 60.
Kerr was again good, and would you believe Patto! Made some telling runs and scored a strong try crashing through the heart of the defence :shock: . The Covell knockers haven't a clue, he just keeps doing the little things well. Shut down a situation when Kenny made a very poor miss and the flying pick up of a grubber on the goal line that he scooped up and ran out to the 30 through heavy traffic was all class.
Duffy was poleaxed by Dorn in a disgraceful head high. Just blatant. Duff had to be helped from the field and didn't return, but did Dorn go? :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol:
I don't know how many more times I'm going to have to say it - ******FORGET GRAY VIANE******* He isn't even a shadow of his former self. He used to be a kamakaze which was why he could play above his weight. Now he looks like he's trying to avoid getting a scratch. He's gone I reckon. Plum definitely offers more, but not the impact of the old Gravy.
Flegg went well against the most expensive u/20's side in history holding them to 10-6 at half time. We didn't touch the ball once in the first 10 of the second and the chooks have too much ammo for that much possession and blew us away in this period. I think it ended 32-12.
