Apparently Payne and Hanbury are being shown the door.

There was announcmeent a couple of weeks ago that Payne had been released but silence concerning Hanbury.

I'm ambivalent about Hanbury - he had a shot at 1st grade but wasnt able to hold his spot. With all the 'average' recruited backs for 2010 eg Mitch Brown, Daniel Fitzhenry & Geoff Daniella I dont mind if he is let go.

Questions still remain about what is Skando doing and I have a feeling that Willie Mataka might be shopped out too.

are we making a serious play for Lima and possibly some other player?

MU,

Lima would be ideal.

I also heard that Newcastle are gonna play Mullen and Gidley in the halves next year.

I would love us to sign Scott Dureau, I think he would be great for us.

Blake Lazarus and Jake Mullaney are definitely options.

Add to that Fitzhenry, Moltzen, Brown and at a pinch Beau Ryan,

I said it in another post, jeez we have some options in the backs,

I would love us to sign Lima and a tried and tested number 7.

Monaghan or Dureau, please, pretty please Santa I have been a good boy.

I would have liked to have kept Josh Lewis and promoted him to the top squad.

We are pretty screwed fullback wise next year. I wonder if Lawrence would be considered to cover fullback?

Because there was talk that if we did sign Tuqiri that he'd end up on the wing, meaning no-one has been confirmed for fullback.

It looks like Moltzen will be fullback. Which means Benji is very likely going to be halfback again :(

I reckon Lazarus will get first shot at fullback- Teflon showed plenty of faith after the horrendous injury run to re-sign him for a further year to show his wares. Teflon would have to back up that faith by giving Lazarus first crack or what else was the point in retaining him?

With all the pressure and expectations on Teflon in 2010 he'd be nuts to go back to an unsuccessful experiment with Marshall at 1/2 without trying the other more convential 'proven' options first. I'm sure Folkes would be rubbing his hands with glee if Teflon tried that one first off.

pretty sure to start the year it will be:

1. Moltzen

6. Marshall
7. Taumata

Barring injury if its anything other then that I'll be shocked

Lord knows - the pre-season games will give us an indication of Teflon's thinking but on first thoughts (without seeing them play yet) I'd be hesitant to play Taumata and Marshall that close together- 2 x bright sparks boucing off each other and competing for plays and attention might be more disruptive than beneficial to the overall team plays on the day. BUT, I'd be happy to be proved wrong.

What about Lui? I have a feeling Taumata will be slapped with the bench utility tag and Lui will be the starting five-eighth..

I like that 1,6,7,and I think that is what sheens will start with, and I also think it will work.

I am interested to know why so many here seem to think that Taumata is so highly though of? I know he has bucket loads of skill and potential, but his track record is horrendous and he hasn't played an NRL game for god knows how long. For him to be even considered to start the year as our halfback he would have to play out his skin in the trials.
