Did I read it correctly that Uncle Nick, Freddy and Robbo all were in attendance when meeting Jackson recently. Shows the wraps on the kid. I know Freddy helped with Jenko coming across as well. Great stuff by the club if true.

Wonder what Horrie's thoughts are on his lad coming home.
Jackson's home is in Wollongong with his mother. He attends Illawarra Sports High and he has never lived in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney. His dad played and coached in the Illawarra before he left. Last I head Kevin was living and working in the US. Jackson is an Illawarra Steelers' junior and they are very keen to keep him. I can understand Easts chasing him because he certainly can play. Easts will have to queue up behind the seven other clubs chasing him too.

I'm fully aware Jackson is a Illawarra kid, clearly my post was about his old man being Chook Royalty and wondering what Horrie thinks of his boy coming home to Easts.

Perhaps it's time the NRL looked at introducing the Father and Son rule that the AFL have adopted that would give us preference over other club signing him. Salary cap concessions for eligible players should also be considered. Thoughts?

Can you imagine Souths in about 25 years time if that happens ?
It would be the South Burgess Rabbitohs ! :D

Have you guys heard any more about when the announcement will be made ? I would've thought it'd happen before the end of July.

Dragons have made a nice counter offer to him, he is still weighing up his options.

You don't think the manager is making them suffer after the way Jamie Soward's playing career at the Dragons ended

He'll be a Rooster for sure

Not so sure about that yet. The Roosters offer is very attractive but it has its negatives as well:

1) Jacko can play 1,6,7,9 - RTS, Maloney, Pearce, Friend look long term prospects in those positions so there would be limited opportunities for him to crack a spot in the top grade in the coming years.
2) The stigma of his surname. Comparisons to his dad by fans/media could always be a factor and a burden. At any other club it wouldn't be as bad.

Dragons have some positives:
1) They have a distinct lack of halves talent at STGILL so the door is wide open for him to find a permanent NRL spot.
2) He's still a kid, there would still be advantages in not having to leave home just yet.
