Archers stuff up.

The ref wasn't the reason why we were down 10-0 1st half. Cmon guys, lets not get blame the fkn refs. Just suck it up and get ready for next year.

The sad thing for me is that we will never know if this was the case:

Called Steve Turner tackled, though allowed him to play on!?!? Melbourne get repeat set and score first try.

Ben Smith penalised for "holding down" in ruck (the only penalty of the sort in the game, whereby there were several worse occasions than this that went unnotice) - they score there second try in the ensuing set.

Defense didn't muscle up, sure. But would they have had these opportunities if they didn't get these favourable calls?

pure and utter bullsh*t!!!! what about the start of the game when melbourne scored their 1st try he yells out tackle 2 release and then turner gets up and runs another 30 meters just disappointing that the refs can wreck what should have been a grandstand finish to such a memorable game

Yep. Definitely not blaming the ref entirely for the loss but geez he made some sh*tty calls that severely impacted the game. That Turner 'surrender' call, the constant slow down of the play the ball from the storm and the penalty at the end of the game were killers.

Before all you Eels blame the ref:
The penalty to Slater in the 76th minute is CORRECT.
After Slater was tackled by Moi Moi around the legs, Slater 'appeared' to have dropped the ball when getting up to play. The Ref blew his whistle and gave a penalty to the Storm.
REASON: Eels player number 14; Kevin Kingston when running back onside, ran past Slater getting up, and accidentally knee-ed Slaters right upper arm, jolting the ball from Slater's grasp. Although it was accidental (Kinston did try to avoid the collision), a penalty had to be given.
Well done to Archer (ref) who saw the incident and made the right decision.
Eels fans, play the incident again and you'll see.

You have got to be joking! The exact same thing happened to Hindy when he tried to play the ball and the tackler had his knee there. Happens a thousand times a season, yet the first one called is with 5 to go in the grand final to the team 6 in front.

I think with the uproar Finch has to get some better training into the refs. Players & teams improve but the refereeing seems to get worse. I don't blame the refs, they put in the same performance they have all year

Storm fan here who was at the game.

It was a tough call but it was for holding and as someone said on here a penalty like that has been coming for a while. When you do a tackle round the ankles you are left holding the ankles, something you cant really avoid, although there is always a chance of the ref blowing the whistle.

Would have set up a grandstand finish but the reason you guys lost was because your forwards didn't turn up in the first half, and you let GI score untouched from a pretty standard kick. It wasn't because of a questionable call at the end.

We know what its like to get done by a ref in the GF (see the tape of Storm Broncos in 06) so feel for you guys but in all honesty I think the better team won on the day.

Without a doubt that the better team won on the day and yes the 2006 grand final was the biggest disgrace as far as refereeing goes that I have ever seen in a GF .....I'm a bit dirty about the dud calls in yesterdays game but in reality ....we stuffed ourselves when we watched Inglis catch a bomb and stroll over for a try ...

The bolded part is the difference. Hindy lost the ball after it was accidently knocked out by the knee of someone who was involved in the tackle. Kevin Kingston was not involved in the tackle or play, so should have easily avoided the play the ball area.

 Read today's paper where Archer has said that Slater "dropped the ball cold"

You might cop losing fair and sqaure, I understand that.

But when you are jipped by a blind monkey, thats a disgrace.

My cat would have called that tackle legal. Ive seen far worse tackles allowed to go unchallenged all fugging year.

Im holding up with the "whingers", because the truth is on our side.

The drop-kick apologists for Archer cant lie in bed straight. They know it... thats why they are carrying on.

Shame NRL, you suck for letting that knobble-headed space cadet referee get away with negligence.

This gutless slowworm should have his backside sued off.

Someone said a long long time ago that the bookies would lose heaps if Parra won and something will happen to prevent the eels from doing so.

Come on down ...... Mr ...

Its not corruption, its just rubbish.

The whole season of NRL was ruined, written off, nailed to the wall and defaced.

No point competing for the title if you are going to get jipped like that.

Who is stop this slitherer doing it next year?

I could tell, Gallop was not happy after the game.

A dark shadow has fallen across the NRL. Its a tainted code for sure.

Those who are saying its fair and everything like that, they are fugging kidding themselves.

Disgusting and the hurt is not subsiding for fair-minded fans across the globe.

The Archer misses the target once again, hence my username. What was building to be the biggest comeback in Grand Final history, not to mention the first team to win it from 8th pozi was knocked on the head by an arrogent, ignorent human being who ignored the touchies call to ruin the climax. The worst field goal in history was followed by the worst decision. My username is now Parra's favourite entree for life, "foccarcher". You'll work it out!
