Something that seems to have been glossed over from last night is QLD's spine and backline performance

58% of the ball. Complete domination in field position. Leg up from the referees with turning a blind eye to strips and tackling in the air while inventing "forward" passes against NSW......

........ and they won by 4. Which, I might add, they were gifted by Brett Morris.

For all the hollering about how shithouse NSW's forwards were they only just beat us on the back of a single school boy error by an out of his depth winger.

Whats more, despite the furious masturbation going on about the Slater/Lockyer/Thurston combination, between the 3 of them they only manufactured 1 line break all game.

Sure Hodges is to come back and he'll certainly add another element. But don't expect fat merkin Inglis to offer anything more than Neilson did last night.

Personally, I think this whole QLD "dominance" is a house of cards just waiting to crumble. As soon as NSW figure out what a good front rower is and actually selects the right men up front the tables will swing around. They don't even have to win the battle, just staying in the fight for the 80 mins would be enough.

NSW defended well, but they offered nothing in attack. I thought we were a typical Ricky Stuart team. Good defensively (other than two brain lapses) but not enough points in us. Our front row was an absolute disgrace, and both hookers offered no offensive strength except the second try play by Ennis.

Yes I think QLD are that good, but I don't think they played that well last night.

but to put it all into perspective qld didnt play well last night. as much as gould is wanking over nsw's chance, qld can and will be hell of a lot better as well. Tonga played with 1 arm, nielsen and yow yeh will be betetr for the experience as well and qld may actually practice some attacking plays in the next camp

Queensland are clearly the better team but were way off their game last night. It was a big opportunity missed for NSW

They are definitely a great team but they are far from unbeatable. They showed that last night. 5 sets in a row and unable to breach the line would have me concerned if I supported them. They looked tired at times and run off their feet.
What they have is the solidity and combination of Lockyer, Thurston, Smith and Slater and you can't get any better than that.

Agreed, I thought we played crap last night

Had we have played well, it would have been a landslide win ... I actually think the Smith, Lockyer and Thurston combo had a bad night, seemed disjointed

Give us that much ball, and that much front row imbalance, next time we win by 30

Not to say that NSW didn't defend well, they did

Certainly missed Inglis and Hodges, both "could" be right for game 2

Oink !

Yeah, they have won 8 of the last 9 games by being simply average.

They are unquestionably a better team than NSW, no doubts there.

My point is though people keep going on that this is the best QLD team ever, and they are invincible etc, when really I think either of the QLD of NSW teams of the mid to late 90s would destroy them, as well as the NSW team of the early 2000s.

They are beatable, and on top of which I think last night as well as the preparation for the game (that ridiculous team announcement ceremony for example) is showing they are starting to read their own press.

QLD are there to be beaten if NSW can actually get their shit together with a few key positional changes.

Willie Tonga is the weak link in defense yet we ran all night at Neilsen who was up to the challenge.

They have a top class attack, but last night's team was definitely beatable. We choked.

AS good as QLD are ,as long as NSW lets geriatric biased twits like Bozo get his token Manly player in the team ,then that helps immensley.
King would not be in the top 15 props in the NRL ...yet gets a gig at SOO & gets smashed & his yardage could have been measured with a short tape measure.

When a team has a very off night and still manage to win, then yeah, they are pretty good.

Ok....really? I think Queensland wouldn't have as many lopsided wins against those teams but they'd definitely get wins.
Once again this is due to the inability for NSW to give Queensland credit for anything.

This team is THAT good, sorry to burst your passionate NSW pride bubble but Queensland didn't play very well last night.
NSW did, and more power to them but you're dreaming if you think that's what NSW will come up against in game II.

The only reason NSW got as close as they did last night was because of our lack of fire power out wide. If Inglis, Hodges and Dave Taylor were running around it would have been a different story.

QLD are capable of being beaten for sure

NSW are incapable of providing a team to do it ........
