Apart from Dugan, De Ballin, Cooper and Widdop they are woeful.

Penrith buying Merrin = lulz

What a rabble of a club. Going to be a long time until they win second flag

Based on the second half of the season form, yes. Our first half of the season form might get us there still. We will be destroyed first week.

Shouldn't the question be the weakest comp?
As shit as we are half the other teams aren't going to make the finals

Yeah this. There have been 3 sides go on 10+ win streaks, last year I don't think there was one.

No doubt the NRL will claim it the closest comp ever though.

Canberra 2002 qualified on 10 wins, 13 losses, 1 draw record with a -170 differential.

Benefits of competing in a 15 team competition, where one of those teams cheats the cap.

Canberra's 2004 and Brisbane's 2007 also qualify. Lost more games than they won, but still qualified because the rest of the competition fell over.

Between the two, Brisbane's was easily least deserving. At least with Canberra, they had to massacre South Sydney to qualify (62-22 - Thank you Rugby League Project). Brisbane only qualified once Newcastle scored an unlikely 26-24 win on Friday. It was a god-send for Brisbane as they'd go onto lose their Round 25 clash 68-22 only a few days later.

If you look at their list over the journey they will probably need a priority pick to push for a flag.

Canberra's 2004 and Brisbane's 2007 also qualify.

I'd suggest the 2003 Broncos, who finished in 8th position despite losing their last 8 matches. They gave a fair account of themselves in the 1 vs 8 final at Penrith, leading 18-2 with a gale at their back before capitulating and conceding 26 unanswered points in better than even time to the eventual premiers, who put the cue in the rack in the last 20 minutes with a cricket score beckoning.

Last year's Broncos would come close too.

Then there's the Manly side of 2005. They scraped in ahead of a gaggle of teams after disposing of an extremely inept Raiders side in the last round, but would not have beaten any other of the bottom 8, especially the wooden spooners, Newcastle, who had won 8 of their last 11 (after losing their first 13 in a row) with A Johns in vintage form. Manly were duly demolished by the minor premiers Parramatta, who themselves were gunned down unceremoniously well before the last dance.
