Dragons are not the worst team to make the top 8
The dragons are the dumbest team in living football history to make the top 8.
They have workout every trick in the book of " How to play dumbarse footy and lose "
They amaze me and everyone else how they can find another way to lose anther winable game.

The Eels wrote that book.

If you had a top 5 you'd have had at least 5 or 6 teams unable to make the finals 6 weeks out. This is not a good situation for the competition.

Under a Top 5 in a 14 team comp, you had teams with 15 wins from 22 games missing the finals. That's teams better performed than 13 of the 16 teams this year.

The Dragons will probably get eliminated first week of the finals. Having them there is a small price to pay for having a decent balance.

There were only two years of a 14 team comp, 1982 and 1983. In both years, the team that finished 6th won 14 and drew 1 out of 26 games. Perhaps you meant 16 teams (1988-94)?

the Sharks are in the top 4 but anyone with an idea about Rugby League knows that the real contenders are the top 3, 4-8 really don't have enough to win it

I mean if they manage to get the Roosters on a night where it's absolutely hammering down rain with cyclonic winds, then sure they have a chance because it suits their style but you wouldn't favor them on a hard track at Suncorp

A better question is whether the Sharks are the worse team to finish top 4 (potentially with a negative for and against).

But as someone said earlier, better to be the worst team that makes the finals, than be the best team that doesn't.

No.

2007 the Cowboys finished third with a -71.

Neither of our wins against the Roosters came in those conditions.

I love this years myth that the top 3 in the NRL are miles better then the rest lol. Even though a few weeks ago Brisbane almost got 50 put on them from the team that's going to finish 9th.

Lol @ broncos fans thinking they are on the same planet as the Roosters.

The top 3 is a joke. The cowboys are finished. At least the Sharks play a style of football that drags teams down to their level. They are in with a big shot if the Broncos are.

Teams 3 and 7 played in last year's grand final.
Souths got towelled up by roosters in the last round only to return the favour a few weeks later in the preliminary final.
Finals football is a whole new creature and we simply don't know who will fire or flop

The Bulldogs really should have made the top 4 over them, f**k even Souths could probably claim to have a better squad.

Feel free to get salty Sharkies fans but come the f**k on, take a step back and examine the current top 6 and, considering you were RUNNING LAST in the first 4 rounds of the comp, if there is one team from those 6 that can bear the title of "overachievers", it's the Sharks.

Can you win the premiership if you lock down 4th spot? In this comp, anything is possible if you finish in the top 4, but you guys are entering a finals series in the top 4 with Ben Barba wasting a bench spot and Robson playing the role of your chief playmaker......

Same old shit from IBM.

Did you stop to consider that your team has also overachieved?

I hope we get the chance to meet in the finals because Brisbane is the only class side in the top 8 we haven't beaten - we played way back in Rd 2, described by someone on here as the worst game ever.

I'd suggest both teams have come a long way...but only we have overachieved?

Please footy gods, let us play the Broncos in a finals game!

This.

Some teams are looking great but have they peaked too early?

Counting ya semi final chickens before they hatch is fraught with danger.

I have little confidence in our boys, I just hope they learn a lot this year and keep hungry for next year.

Roosters are a in a league of their own. But as said, anything can happen.

My first year following RL was the 16 team comp in 1988 when Penrith missed the final five series after losing a play off to Balmain, even after winning 15 from 22 regular season games.

When they expanded to the top 8 in 1995 it allowed for more finals games and more interest in late season games, but also for more average teams to make the finals.
