I believe we can win, provided Eric Grothe stays on the wing, and marks his man. If hes going to come out of the line, Inglis is going to make him look like an eight year old. If Eric concede no more then 1 try, on his side, eels to win 16-14.

I'm not confident at all to be honest.

They are just clinical. They are primed and agressive and talented and they make me wet my pants in terror little bit when i think about what the score could be.

If we put up a gallant effort i will be happy. (In saying all of that, parramatta, FEEL FREE TO SURPRISE ME!!)
jess, jess, jess look down at your sig and you will see parra's ace in the hole it's US the blue and gold army!! think about the titans game and that massive parra crowd cheering the boys on, now DOUBLE IT thats (approximately) the crowd that will be supporting them on sunday if we all scream at the right time the sound waves will make the storm goal kicks miss :D

So you reckon Parra would've struggled if BK did not play?
No I think Canterbury would have been a better team than they were, some chance.

I would have still tipped Parra, but once BK was there, I was very confident that Parra would win.

The dogs have a damn good pack.

As a few have said - If we can hold them in the first 20 - 25 minutes then we will win.
The start is so important. If we start like we did against St George, Titans and Dogs, the Storm will put 16 - 20 point on us in 20 minutes.
We have to hold them out.

Also thier big play is the kick through for Billy Slater on the line. We must find a way to combat this.
For Inglis - Reddy has to be in his face at all times. Give him room and he is gone.

We can win but we will have to really play out of our skin for it.

as much as i hate them i have nothing but respect for them , they are the most profesional team i have seen run around in recent history. in years gone by i would of said storm will smoke us and we will just crumble under the pressure. but the eels are a diffrent team this year. we havent got this far because we are still the same team who as everyone says "chokes" it will be a very difficult task and we are going to need the bounce of the ball to go our way esp with our unpredictable offloads which could really come back and ultimately loose us the game. if we give the storm a oppurtianty with poor ball possession and errors they will make us pay.

inglis is a superstar no doubt about it a absoulte freak but im confident reddy can contain him come sunday. they dont call him mr football for nothing he will have done his homework on inglis and will contain him not to mention G.I has a habit of going missing for large portions of the game. as much as i love grothe he might prove to be our weak link i expect they will be directing alot of traffic his way in the early stages to test him out . but in saying that he has held his own all year

Every man and their dogs is in awe of the Bellyache, but really, look at his record in "big" matches, grand finals and SOO, and his record aint that great.

Sure he's got one, but it must be remembered, that team was a lot stronger than the one now.

Ricky Stewart also has a losing grand final record, again with an awesome roster.

I reckon hes got a bit of a Brian Smith effect in the big ones.....

im with u fat man . ive been talking it up to my mates for the last 10 years about the partying id do once we actually win a grandfinal. id die a happy man to see a eels premiership. i was born in 86 when the eels won their last so obviously it doesnt count. but my whole family are born and bread eels fans that its more than just a football team its like my family and a way of life (maybe im starting to get to deep here in my post lol) but the morale of the story is nothing would mean more to me then seeing my beloved eels doing a lap of honour with the nrl trophy

aslong as he doesnt do the same as on friday night and just let the ball roll in the in goal cause with slaters speed he will make him pay. id love to see hayne in full flight with slater trailing behind him , be intresting to see who would win , but it is the grand final and we do have hindmarsh in our team so i could imagine hindmarsh somehow keeping up with them. mark my words hindmarsh's grand final performance will be our x factor and the diffrence between the two team. the whole team will lift

Thats a fair assessment.

Hes an extremely powerful player, its not fleeting stregth, its low-gear grunt that drives right through you.

If he plays his best game, he will bustle the storm off their game-plan, and shut down a solid percentage of their attack.

And he will do this for much of the game until he can barely raise a stumble.

He might do what the cheif did for Newcastle v Manly and just let the throttle out.

Everything he has ever done in the game comes down to this match.

Imagine that.

If he lets some venomn out, starts the fugging fire, even through legal tackles, a few of their biggest and strongest just wont get up.

On his day, he is unequaled.

you would know yourself dave being a souths supporter the heroic display sattler displayed playing the grand final with a broken jaw , im not saying he will match those feats in anyway but if we win his performance will go down as one of the best seen in the modern era and preety much play himself into a australian jersey for the 4 nations (maybe abit biase but has already earnt it )

Adopt Hagan's tactic Newcastle v Parra 2001. Run second rowers at Finch and Inglis..same as Kennedy and Simpson targetted Taylor and Lyon in that match.

But hey, Daniel Anderson is a good coach, so lets just trust his tactics.
He's been there, done that.
BTW, I spoke with Snoopy Collins this afternoon and asked him - "are the Eels a chance". He told me "Yeah I think so. They are playing great footy".

this is going to be the game that really undoes bellyaches "mastermind" coach title and has anderson getting the accolades he deserves. we have the roster to match it with melbourne and he is going to have a few tricks up his sleave for the game that is going to give us that edge over them. either way ill be proud of the boys no matter what.

... sorry boss:(

Guys, guys, guys, im NEVER confident. Friday night when cgee and i had chats at half, that was the first time i had an eery calm ALL WEEK.

Melbourne are just so brutal!! It's terrifying (Terry-fying?)

Still, so proud of what they've acheived. And no doubt we'll be drinking no matter what!

Jess, The Eels are also brutal. The great thing about the Eels is they have already perfected an intense style of game that operates at great speed for 80 minutes under sudden death conditions. THIS IS A FACT. No other team has practised this skill with great success bar the Eels.

We have a great bunch of full-on 80 minute perpetual motion freaks who cover up both sides of the ruck, up the middle & out wide. No other team in the comp has this.

And then there is this unpredictable 2nd/3rd/4th/5th phase play which involves most of the Eels players and then there is Jarryd Hayne, Mateo & Inu (he is peaking at the right time), three absolute freaks who cause nightmares for any defence. And if Cayless plays, we have him + Hindmarsh, Lowrie, Fui, Galuvao, Grothe (as an extra forward) & sometimes Mannah & a few other Eels, instigating 2nd/3rd/4th/5th phase plays as well.

Don't be surprised that Craig Bellamy & Co will be having kittens every night they go to bed thinking about how to stop this relentless Eels Juggernaut. As long as the Eels maintain the standard of pressure (or increase it) as they have done so over the last 10 weeks (bar round 26 against Dragons), DA will be able to concentrate on tinkering with the Eels attack & defence, a luxury that Bellamy & co WILL NOT HAVE.

The perfect foundations have already been laid, the perfect base ingredients of a great meal/salad are in place. DA only now has to gently tinker with this Eels Juggernaut and he will do this by targeting/isolating various Storm players and send in his brutal attackers and defenders like Fui, Inu, Hayne, Grothe (yes, use him as a hitman in this game) etc WHILE THE JUGGERNAUT ROLLS ON IN DEFENSE AND ATTACK.

If I was DA and while most of the Eels will be absorbing everything the Storm throw at them for the first 20 minutes, I would both in attack and defence be targeting and isolating Chambers, Nielsen, Finch, Smith and Slater. In attack I would be sending in Fui on Smith and Inu/Grothe/Mateo on Chambers and Nielsen.

Yes, but not as important unless they can be isolated, I would also test out Tolman, Tandy, Anderson & Hinchcliffe up the middle of the ruck or just either side of the ruck with some of our big fast brutal boppers as well.

These 4 players (Chambers, Nielsen, Finch, Smith) can have brain explosions if put under the pump. In defence other Storm players will come in to assist leaving gaps/broken staggered lines in their defence and I will have coached Ben Smith, Reddy, Hayne, Burt, Lowrie, etc, to look for these gaps and begin to run lines at them (as the game unfolds) to set off 2nd phase plays with inside or outside balls.

If other Storm defenders come rushing in to plug these holes then quickly send the ball out wide (out back) via Robson to either Hayne or Mortimer (both operating either side of the ruck) to begin attacking these other holes which will lead to tries or 2nd/3rd phase plays.

If Slater has come in to assist a small kick over or through the line will do or have three players running at the hole and pass the ball to either or, depending on how the desperate defence comes in to tackle.

As DA, I would want the Storm to become desperate about their defence so that they gradually lose their speed in attack, particularly to slow Smith down in the ruck.

Also, I would have Hayne, Burt, Reddy and Mortimer keeping an eye on Inglis roaming as he did against the Broncos the other night. There is a very good chance if the ball turns over quickly that he can be tied up holding up the frontline leaving Nielsen, Chambers, Finch & Slater isolated, and if so, send in Hayne, Inu, Mateo etc on them.

This is how the Eels will wear down this Storm team who are truly under-done if put under the pump in a full-on 80 minute game of immense intensity.

If the Eels break the Storm within the first 35 minutes they will run away with this game. The Storm are not the same team that won the GF back in 2007 or even back in 1999.

With an engine running perfectly, serviced regularly that all you have to do is drive the car and enjoy the journey (not having to worry about the engine), DA has opened up an enormous array of other options to attack the Storm with, options not available if the engine was out of tune or wonky.

If the Eels became nervous and lose confidence then the Eels engine is out of tune and Bellamy and co are given the opportunity on a plate to overtake this Eel machine with a better performing squad. This can only happen if the present Eels squad let it happen, and I just can't see how Hindmarsh, Cayless, Burt, Hayne, Galuvao & others will invite in such a scenario. There are no out of control EGO'S in this squad and Robson is a most fantastic calming influence over the whole team as well.

Robson to win the Churchill Medal. Eels to win 25+

So; we face the might of Melbourne. The best attack in the NRL. A host of Origin stars. A team who have just demolished their last two opponents. Do we have a chance of beating them and winning the most unexpected of premierships? I say YES.
Firstly, Melbourne's run-in has been relatively easy. They flogged the Warriors; they flogged a badly depleted Newcastle; they flogged Brisbane without their inform Origin half-back. They flogged Manly without Jamie Lyons and with a sadly out of form Brett Stewart. At least two of those games have been home games for Melbourne, I think. None of them were sudden death. This will be sudden death on a neutral ground.
Parramatta have beaten Saints, Canterbury, Titans, in recent weeks - all hard games, all sudden death. Our preparation is better. Come Sunday - win lose or draw - Melbourne are not going to know what hit them when they face us. We have better attack and better resolve than the teams Melbourne have faced recently; and FAR better defence.
Melbourne have been in three Grand Finals and only won one. They themselves might be wondering whether or not they are chokers. I'm wondering. Melbourne seem to have peaked at the right time, but I think Parra have a touch more improvement left in attack - especially from Mateo and Inu. Robson gets better every match. Same with Mannah.
I big danger is if Melbourne go to a big lead early. If we are within ten points of them at half-time, it's anybody's game. If we happen to be leading at the break - we WILL win.
I think, of all the teams in the finals, Parramatta are the one team that Melbourne would have chosen not to play. We will be VERY dangerous to them. They will be tested like they haven't been tested for a long, long time. GO PARRAMATTA.

To answer your question.........."Are we a chance on Sunday?"

Of course we are ffs.
