I thought we were in good shape and was shocked to read this in the middle of a Sonny bill story.

http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/sp...nd-box-full-time/story-e6frexnr-1226300911497

'THERE*was plenty of talk over the summer suggesting the Wests Tigers were doing it tough financially, thanks to the loss of a jersey sponsor and delayed third-party payments to star players.Indications from within the joint venture aren't so dire, but keep an ear out for a salary cap dispute with the NRL.When news leaked out about Tigers officials visiting NRL cap auditor Ian Schubert a fortnight ago, many thought the worst. Our mail is that Tigers officials don't see eye to eye with Schubert over a cap ruling that is vital to the assembly of their roster. Stay tuned.'

Problems with the salary cap is no surprise really but maybe we have to let someone go.
The stay tuned at the end makes me nervous.
Wtf??

If its written by Toss Massoud i wouldnt be to concerned. The same wanker that just wrote a piece about Moltzen IN secret talks with yawnion, altho it was back in October when he was in talks also with Saints and anyone else that would listen.. Hardly an exclusive scoop like he tried to make it sound .

I hope its a nothing story.
I just couldn't stand playing a season for nothing like Melbourne had to.

I actually got laugh in the same article when i read the sharks aren't happy with fafita's attitude towards training.
That's one part of the article I believe.
Glad the lazy sod is gone and not our problem.

we've regularly gone over the cap in recent years, we usually cop a fine and move on.

I dare say Ellis deciding to leave the club at the end of the year had a hint of nudge in it

I doubt we will be stripped of points. If we're being open an honest with the NRL and not concealing it, I think it will be more in the area of a fine and maybe docked a few competition points.

I wouldn't be surprised if its another tehnicality like what happened last year whereby Farah and Gibbs were denied veteran status discounts when they clearly were entitled to them.

The problem is the Balmain side of the joint venture is $6 million dollars in debt with no possible way of getting out of trouble.

The Wests Group have combinex assets and wealth of over $100 million dollars.

But the constitition states they both have to contribute equally to the Joint venture. So the amounts contributed are very small because Balmain contributes money they do not have.

So in effect the Wests Tigers get very little leagues club financial support. Its almost impossible to run a NRL team with no Leagues club support.

They are talking about the JV, not the Shitpies Alien. We are all well aware the Wasties are run by dickheads. Have been for 25 years.

For all the talk about the Leagues Clubs .... Look at the front of the jersey, our major sponsor provided by the Balmain side.

You Shitpie morons need to give it up and stop whinging about Balmain. Particularly once you get it through your stupid little minds exactly why Ashfield have so much involvement in the JV...

Time to move on lads...

-----------

On topic, even if we are having issues, we won't be the only club. We need the new tv deal to come into place as quickly as possible. You look at what the AFL clubs get in comparison to what the League ones do and is it any wonder our clubs have a hard time of it?

Though it does highlight why we so desperately need the SFS deal rather than going back to a 6/6

meltiger you have no idea so stfu

its the mismanagement by humphries and the broke Balmain half of the joint venture that means that the magpies basically have to carry the load because of the Balmain dead weight

what part of the joint venture is putting in the most cash?

its not balmain thats for sure

Only 3 things can be established.

1. You're geniused.
2. You have no evidence to support your claim which leads me back to example 1.
3. Magpies are dead and lost its identity as a club, it must suck for you but last time I checked we are called the Tigers and only geniuss still cling to the past which again leads me back to example 1.

We don't want you just like you don't want us but we are the face of the club and your cash and juniors are welcome to help build the Tiger brand and make it successful.
I mean, how marketable is a f**king magpie for f**ks sake?

Matchball,
The Wests group wont put in any more money because they only own 50% of the Wests Tigers and what they put in needs to be matched by Balmain who are broke and in great financial peril.

The Magpies do exist. Its the Balmain Tigers that no longer exist.

Get your facts right buddy.

Only the Balmain part has ceased to exist.
The Tigers is the dominant entity of the team.

Magpies got it the other way, they kept the location but lost the face/name/mascot.
They lost the identity in the merger which was probably due to poor management at Wests during the negotiations or it made sense to use the Tigers as a known brand.
Whatever happened, Wests got a shitty deal that really just finances another team.
