Do you think buying so many players this season could hurt our chances of re signing guys like Creagh and Poore next year???

Hope not. They need to be tied up ASAP

I'd be devastated if we lost either of those two. They, along with Young, are the heart and soul of our pack.

I change my vote to undecided now that we have Boyd.

I for one am not yet on the Jeremy Smith bandwagon, Ive seen him do absolutely nothing to earn this rep as a star signing.

I somewhat agree. A great team like Storm can make players look better than what they really are (Hoffman). But on the other hand Smith might be forced to take a back seat at Storm.

Next year will show I guess.

Make a list of players who we haven't signed and remember that we cant sign EVERYONE!

I think our signings are massively important and we will not only be a different team next season but a quality team, feared and respected.
Our pack is shaping up to be monstrous. Our back line will be great once they get some solid direction and instructions (WB).
Unfortunately there hasn't been any quality 7's up for grabs.

Realistically, what more do you guys want?
4 rep players (Costigan, Smith, Priddis, Boyd) is not such a bad haul.

1. Nightingale
2. Boyd
3. Morris.
4. Cooper
5. Sailor
6. Soward
7. Hornby
8. Poore
9. Priddis
10. Weyman
11. Smith
12. Creagh
13. Young

14. Webb
15. Costigan
16. Hunt
17. Stanley

I'm not happy. Weyman can't even make the Raiders bench. Priddis was a great hooker ONCE. Now the Panthers are prepared to cut him. Costigan was trouble off the field and is Boyd so much better than the Morris twins. Didn't look so good last Friday night at Suncorp. Smith is a good player and that's about it as far as I'm concerned.

The thing that concerns me is 3 of them wasn't considered good enough for the Broncos but for us they are "great signings". I wonder how long we will hold onto some of our young players. Poor Happy the Dragon will be next and we'll have that bloody horse galloping round at Kogarah with Alfie Langer on his back singing "St George can't play football".

Still counting Bennett as a star signing and Soward outside Matty Head is probably my dream halves combination (in attack). If Jeremy Smith can go alright as a Front Rower, I reckon we're looking pretty good.

i think the x-factor will be howmuchdoesthatfatc*nt weyman.

under creeping he just might become a genuine premiership prop.

undecided:

* Smith and Costigan are good signings
* Weyman and Priddis are decent signings
* Head is a good signing provided we are paying him mainly match payments

I still think we are short by one quality back, but we'll see what happens.
Correction. Priddis is a sh*t signing.
Trust me after 2 weeks you will be wishing you never even thought about signing him.

Jeremy is a backrower. Ryles is the heart of our forward pack and we let him go. Not so sure about the Weyman signing to be honest as he isnt even getting a start in Canberra

That would be my guess for the side next year. I think it is a strong looking side with plenty of potential. My bench looks heavy but going on what Bennett has done up with the Broncos I'm guessing he would take Priddis off and either put Young or Costigan into hooker.

I think Scott is looking at a bench spot at best.

Full strength he might not get a run. Benny might even use him in the centres

Soward couldn’t make the Roosters side either and proved a winner for us
Weyman is the style of player that Bennett can work with
It’s been said before, Creagh may ultimately end up a prop
Weyman will play out the season with the Raiders now that bad bad Leroy is suspended and he’ll be the better for it
Smith is awesome and carved us up when we played the Storm last. He was their standout forward
It wasn’t Boyd's fault that we beat Brisbane
Ryles will be missed, not a doubt about it. I reckon he’s close to the best prop in the NRL at least in the top 5
Gaz has not been consistent and a little erratic so we can manage without him
Priddis was a huge part of winning the Panthers premiership in ’03 and came within an ace in ’04. Sure he’s older but he has skills and a deft passing game especially close to the line
Losing the potential of Lagi Setu will be worse than losing a player in his current form which has been great for a few games but only reasonable for the bulk of the season
Let’s see who grows up from the NYC and who else Benny can add
I’m feeling pretty good about ’09 and haven’t given up hope this year yet thought we need that #7 spot if we’re to survive round 1 of the semis

Neville Costigan, Michael Weyman, Jeremy Smith, Luke Priddis and Darius Boyd.

An interesting mix. Plus probably a couple more to come, in addition to a few juniors that will a year older. But I'd like to see one more quality prop in the squad.

We are sadly still a starting prop short of being an improved side.

Ryles exit next season will prove to be a massive loss. Apart from Poore, the rest are rotation props Hunt, Saffy, Weighalotman lol (there is a difference) and you can't expect the likes of Merrin, OBrien etc to perform miracles at such a tender age.

As for Weyman risky signing, he is already out for the rest of the year for the Raiders with a hernia, having the operation tommorrow. He is as injury prone as Matt Head if not more. So I really fear we are a quality prop short - J Smith is not a prop and for god sake neither is Benny Creagh.

"RUGBY LEAGUE: Weyman surgery: Canberra Raiders prop Michael Weyman has played his last game for the club for at least the next two years. Weyman will undergo surgery this week after being diagnosed with a hernia. The rehabilitation from the operation will sideline Weyman, who has signed a two-year deal with St George Illawarra from next season, for the remainder of 2008."

Why would you move B. Morris from fullback? He has been killing it there all year and why would he wanna switch to wing? Plus also I feel if we do that, he will def leave for the dogs to take over from Patten and hook up with his bro again in 2010. Plus stanley is sh*t boyd is a much better option there.
