I'm surprised you have named French as you were a very big supporter of Burt who was less effective in a physical capacity than French.

Last year I stated that I would swap French for Ponga and some people thought I was insane.

I do however agree with the rest of your thoughts although I'd keep French and put him permanently on the wing.

Take French and perhaps Avaaaa out and replace with Hoffman.

Move Moeroa into the middle and build a forward pack around him, polar, Edwards and Brown. Evans may still come good and Peni is a good bench player. We need a world class hooker, 2 decent middle forwards, ball playing edge forward and fullback if Gutherson plays 6.

Pou’s defence isn’t that great. Its just that the attack is fairly boring and predictable.

I like Ponga, probably because I like to see smaller players (like him and French) with speed, footwork and good ball skills when they are on fire in attack - it is very exciting. But I am so not writing French off, in fact I reckon with some in form players around him Bevan is as good as Ponga promises to be.

Ponga has played just 9 first grade games at fullback (4 on the wing) and scored 4 tries from there. Bevan has played 17 FG games at fullback for 12 tries so we know they both have the ability to score tries.

This year Bevan has not been getting clean ball against a disruptive defensive line which is limiting his opportunities, unlike past seasons. Get some go forward, get the halves working to use him (and not just shift it out the back like robots) and we may see French back in the scoring circle.

And attack is only half the game remember - every loss Ponga has played in since his debut has seen the other team score at least 26 points.
