I thought the woman who got the Knights/Cowboys NRLW game a couple of weeks ago did a really good job though so that's promising!

Edit: Found her name, Tori Wilkie. Hope she gets more games going forward.
*Quick check….Knights won that game.
Bring her over to the NRL!

Well Gold Coast and Parra have got wins so far this weekend, and Sharks have been up and down so I wouldn’t put it past Souths to sneak a win there.

I’m getting properly worried that we’re going to pick up another spoon here. Given what our draw looks like to finish the season I don’t know where our next win is coming from.

I was thinking exactly the same.

Titans still have 1 less win and Souths are pretty terrible. I don't think we'll get the spoon.
My main concern is both of those sides have it in them to win any game on any given day if it all clicks. We are held back by generally bad coaching and strategy and our inability to convert pressure into points means we’re going to have a hard time.

The Titans are as dangerous as anyone when they get it right and they only need to do that a couple of times to jump us on the ladder, and there’s no way Bennett will want a wooden spoon next to his name when he retires so he’ll have Souths up for every game for the rest of the year imo.

I’m obviously looking at it from a glass half empty perspective but yeah I really can’t see us winning another game this year.

I’d rather us win the spoon vs coming 12-15th ish

at least if we win the spoon you can expect bulk changes in the off season to all systems

if we go better, coaching staff will just put it down to bad luck and maybe tweak a couple of little things

Reality is it is all of the above no matter where we end up, its been a train wreck of a season - bad planning, bad luck, bad coaching, and a horrendous run with injuries. Couldn't ask for any worse irrespective of the final ladder position.

Even if we get the spoon unfortunately I think a lot of it will get put down to bad luck (which tbh a lot of it is) and not much will change.

Rather come 2nd last so it doesn't leave a record...

If a wooden spoon would be the catalyst for needed change at the club I’d take it. It’s not a real award. You don’t have to put it in the trophy cabinet.

There are only two positions at the end of the season: Premiers and Not Premiers. If you’re not realistically giving yourself a shot at the former, the only difference between 7th, 11th and 17th is perception, how you feel about it. Those seasons where the Knights crept in to 7th or 8th our standard of play was closer to the spooners than it was to the team that won the comp. And that’s usually the case. The Roosters this year are more comparable to the Titans, Rabbitohs or us than they are to the Raiders, Bulldogs or Storm.

Conferences would revolutionise the game and bring complete unpredictability to the finals series make up. We are one club shy of it being feasible at 19.

Qld conference
Regional and interstate conference
Western Sydney conference
Northern and inner city conference

Top 2 in each conference progress.
each conference is Home and Away.
purists will cry that lesser sides can go through at the expense of stronger clubs. But that is where the conferences become so important.

It just might solve the player walkouts and mass poaching we see , as there is no set guarantee a strong club plays finals.

I know it would all come down to dollars and egos, but the Wild West that is the player market needs to be brought into line. The only way to do that is set up criteria that removes the haves and have nots based on top 8 finishes. And that means slotting big club against each other with no guarantee they go though by merely beating smaller clubs.
