Star Queensland lock forward Ashley Harrison today agreed to a 3 year agreement with the Sydney Roosters.

South Sydney player of the year in 2003 & 2004 has made the decision to change clubs to enhance his representative career.

“I have been impressed with the professionalism of the Roosters and look forward to playing under Ricky Stuart and his coaching team.

“Whilst I have enjoyed the challenge of helping re-build South Sydney it is important for me to reset my goals and further develop my career”.

Ashley Harrison will take the place of retiring club stalwart Luke Ricketson.

Sydney Roosters CEO Brian Canavan said the new signing is a great addition to the Roosters.

“Ashley is a real professional on and off the field which integrates perfectly with the Sydney Roosters culture and experience.

“He is looking forward to playing with the Roosters and being part of the club’s Centenary year in 2007”.

The Queenslander made has debut in State of Origin 3 and compliments the club’s playing roster for 2006, 2007 & 2008.

Bad luck for the bunnies. That will bring champion into the 6 and sutton to the 13 most likely. What are the other options?? Sutton to stay in 6 with Mcpherson or Minichello in the 13??

I cant believe anyone can say the salary cap is working...

So the best of the talent from the worst team (sorry, not meant to offend).. goes to the best team??

The Roosters will miss the 8 at this rate this year. The NRL cannot force players to play at clubs. I feel for Souths a bit but what can they do.

i am absolutely devastated .. i can't believe this .. we have the greatest junior development scheme though so i guess with the holes that are being left, our young guys will get a chance to make it .. but next year doesnt look too good :(

*prays for the Roosters to go bad and Souths to come good*

:(

I think Souths got the whole recruitment strategy completely wrong this season, it was always a case of whishful thinking if they seriously thought that guys of the calibre of Anasta, Bell and Harrison were gonna be in green and red next season, they were kidding. There was no way they were gonna get them with the talent at the club right now (no disrespect).

If you look at the clubs that have recruited the biggest names in the last 2 seasons they would be Manly, Wests Tigers and then probably Cronulla. All 3 teams had plenty of established first graders and potential talent in the squads and obviously a better track record with their on field performance. But when Manly recruited Kennedy, Kite and Witt, The Tigers Prince, Hodgson, Whatuira and Sattler and Cronulla Vagana, Covell and Dykes, they all didnt do it over night, the built their team up so that these stars would be attracted to their respected clubs.

Now souths dont have a lot of attraction to them right now granted. But if we date back to the end of last season there was Harrison, Fletcher, the 2 Mad dogs, Hegarty and a kid who in time would become a pontential star in Sutton. Now there was something they could work on for 2006 but where souths should've been looking for maybe one big name ala Orford of Anasta and then compliment them with ur young quality players such as a Cooper Cronk, Ben Galea, guys who wouldnt let a side down, they decided to go hell bent on 4 big names in a hit or miss strategy, obviously they missed and are now in a massive whole for 2006.

lastly you dont need to be einstein to realise that these days, it pays to invest better in your own backyard , especially when you operate the foot of the nrl ladder.

Good call by Harrison ...

Roosters is a grave yard. Stuart is a mediocre coach at best ....

McCrae seems to be a different proposition ....

Good luck next season Bunnies ...
