any fans of asian cinema here ?? i love asian cinema ... as a wu-tang (the rappers) fan i got into alot of the old school kung fu movies - especially the ones they sample on their music - which have some of the craziest fighting scenes you could ever imagine in cinema ... john woo is the most influential director you've never heard of and watching some of his older films then watching quentin tarantino you can see where he got his influence ... tarantino knows his asian cinema like the back of his hand and gives major respect to the asian cinema ... shaw brothers are responsible for the best kung fu movies ever... so if you're a fan what are some of your favourite movies ?? if you're not i highly recommend you check out some of these ...

Infernal Affairs ... anyone who has seen the departed should check this out ... this is the original movie the departed ripped off

I'm a big fan of Asian Cinema, more so the slow moving dramas.

Kim Ki-Duk, Wong Kar-Wai are two of my favourite directors.

Some favourites:
Oldboy
Chungking Express
Last Life In The Universe
3-Iron
In The Mood For Love
Oasis
Days of Being Wild
Samaria
Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter... and Spring
The Isle
The Taste of Tea
The Bow

oh and Liquid Swords is an awesome album.

Battle Royale
Infernal Affairs
Oldboy

All classics. There are others, but those three are brilliant by any standard.

Saying The Departed 'ripped off' Infernal Affairs is a little unfair. It was, as far as I'm aware, a Hollywood remake in the same way that The Ring and The Grudge were - done with permission and even assistance (in the latter two films' cases, anyway) of the original team.

it just annoys me how scorcese gets an oscar for a "remake" and master piece's like goodfellas, raging bull and taxi driver get nothing

It was a pretty damn good remake. And he won for directing, not for writing. It's hard to argue that The Departed wasn't a damn well put together film.

without a doubt, Asia make the best horror movies ... don't even question that, and their hollywood rip off "remakes" do no justice to them
