Channel 9 were talking the atmosphere down. Matt Johns called it "eerily" quiet, and I thought that was hilarious because I had been thinking of the exact some word moments before. I was waiting for the Crusade boys to get the chant going:D I love when they do it when Newcastle are defending- not just on the attack 10m out.

Holla if ya hear me said:
thought i heard ikin saying..its electric down here..the atmosphere.

That's Ikin for you:roll:

But seriously, Ikin was lapping it up from the commentary box and saying what a night it was, while the other commentators noted how the crowd was unusually quiet at certain stages of the game.

well we were certainly doing our bit

mrs and I are very very hoarse today, and most of the other crusade boys had lost their voices

its a tad annoying how no one seems keen to join in any more - seems like over the past 5 yrs things have really died - i can remember even the members stand getting loud.

could it be the new stand?

who knows..

Maybe it is time for the Crusade to split into two? Put one group at each end of the ground to help get those around you more involved;-)

Hate to say it but the Jets home crowds sh*t over our crowds..we were so lame..and have been for so long (past 3yrs) we only seem to get involved in last 15mins..if that...i tried getting the crowd on the gonnian chanting too..but they just all stared and smiled....so i told em to f**king wake up to themselves..last time we were going to see him..and they just standing there staring!!!...it kinda wiped the smile off their faces:S

Used to be better without the new stand imo, people packed in tighter and 'intimate'.

Wait, I think I've gone off topic.

Thats because where he comes from, the atmosphere is about as loud as a cricket screaming blue murder...

Round 20'ish last year I went to the Broncos vs Storm at Suncorp, was fairly full with about 40,000 people in there and the game was very close throughout the 2nd half (around 16 all late in the game) and the crowd was as slient as a mouse. They refused to cheer or start up a "Broncos!" chant or anything until their team scored a try. Even then it was very short lived before silence reigned again. The only time I'll be visiting Suncorp again is to watch my team or for SOO!

There is ten times more atmosphere created per person at EAS (I've been to three games there during 04 and 05, all losses too btw :( ) than at Suncorp.

Yeah the stadium was very quiet on the Channel 9 broadcast. I was waiting for the Newcastle chants to go up but nothing happened.

The atmosphere was ok, I wouldnt have called it brilliant. I personally don't believe the atmosphere at the ground has been the same since we got the Joey Stand....remember the days when the big fella would run along the concourse waving his flag in front of the hill. I even remember the Parra Jesus doing it at one game

f**k EAS looks like an awesome stadium. Wish we had one in the Shire. We may not fill it every week but it would be nice. What's the capacity??

Capacity is 26,300 - that is when there isn't an inch of grass available and there is not one seat left unfilled. Anyhting over and you've got people standing on the paths behind the hill....which due to comfort reasons will start to happen when the 26,000 mark is reached.

Atmosphere has certainly died down at EAS/Marathon over the years...i remember at the 44-0 thrashing of the Broncos in 2001 the crowd was electric....absolutely going off - "NEW-CAS-TLE---NEW-CAS-TLE---NEW-CAS-TLE". I knew we were destined for the Grand Final after been there that night.

Best i've heard in the past 5 years would be vs the Dogs in round 3 last year, 46-22. During the second half the Entire eastern stand was erupting the "NEW-CAS-TLE" chant out at very loud levels every 5 minutes. I remember the people, a good 300, out the back of the stand queing for food and beer were joining in to and because it is a big open concrete area out the back it was a very loud echo.

Good times.

Atmosphere was deadset like a morgue. Absolutely disgusting. Sure, everyone was emotional that Joey wasn't coming back, but life goes on. The atmosphere at Bluetongue last week when the crowd was split 50-50 was about 20 times better than what it was last night RE:"Newcastle" chants.

It may have something to do with the fact that we have lost so many iconic Knights players over the past few years. The days of Chief, Matty, Butts, Robbie O, Gids and now Joey are past us and i think maybe that might be something to do with it.

No disrespect to the new guys, but they just dont seem to have that pride in the jumper and passion that was entrenched in the side in years gone by. I guess getting mad dog back is a start......
