Nothing wrong with the 9's, shouldn't matter a tuppenny f**k if NRL clubs use none of their established 1st Graders . . . shouldn't be compulsory for clubs to enter a team

RL is the ADHD kid of the sport world, must change things every couple of years. God forbid we should actually have successful events we build a heritage and long term calendar around!

If SOO had started up couple of years ago people would be bored of it by now and asking whats the point.

Agree make 20 spots available to NRL, SL or International teams. Those who commit the most get the spots.
First in best dressed . . . at the right time of year for RL starved supporters to turn on the tv to anything related

So RLWC players cant play

Clubs have squads of 36 should still be able to name a squad

Most clubs haven't fielded Nov-Dec rep players anyway

Bigger deal is that clubs dont have any u20 players next year

keep it just keep it moving...

All AU and NZ cities have large expensive stadiums sitting empty all February..

Sell it to the likes of Perth / Adelaide / Melbourne / Singapore / Wellington.. on a rotating basis..

Pretty good tourism boost, for those states...

Misleading thread title..

I opened the link thinking that we'd received recognition on a crappy US game show with the question:

"A pointless glorified touch football competition that the NRL believe is their equivalent to Twenty20 cricket"

Deriding the 9's is akin to wanking over Origin . . . the former can easily be made unobtrusive while we wait for March while the latter is far more important to be made unobtrusive why teams struggle towards September

I think the poor crowds that attended this year are more to do with any reluctance to stage the event, then any scheduling issues.

It's a television sport, not many are going to drag the family out for the weekend, players get far more out of it than spectators . . . I wouldn't miss a minute of it with the fridge close by

It was mentioned on 360 and it seemed liked Ikin and Kent want basically it gone for good. There wasn't really a strong source to suggest it will be gone forever, but lets hope its kept. Even if its not on next year, hopefully they keep it in some format, even if its club teams or International teams. We shouldn't ignore the 9s.

I love it. Two back to back days of quick attacking RL in summer when the beer is cold and its too hot to garden , when there was a big crowd and great atmosphere it was even better. If there was to be only one pre season fixture I would prefer it be this one.

I'd make it invitational though 10 NRL teams 5 International teams and 5 SL teams

I like that idea better. It would spuce it up a bit. I don't watch but would if they did this.
