How many people turned up to watch?

Huge crowds throughout the day. I'm a bit sceptical of the so-called 1000 that reportedly watched the bartercard final. There were twice as many people in the stand yesterday than what you could see watching the BC final. With the amount of people around the grass embankments, I'm looking forward to next year. I know nothing will compare to carlaw, but I see potential for further development at Mt Smart No.2. All they have to do is get rid of the running track, make the field bigger and add some terraced seating on the other side.

The ARL and most probably Gordon Gibbons did a pretty good job with the way the whole day was organised. Leaps and bounds above what I saw of the BC final.

Definitely sceptical of the Bartercard GF crowd numbers. The NZRL have always over
reported BC numbers. I used to phone through match reports and my guestimate of
crowd numbers for the Northcote BC games.....the numbers published were never even
close to mine.....

The ARL GF day now, with all three divisions playing, ensures there is a bumper crowd
there all day and because it's on number 2, they don't get lost in the cavernous rubbish
of the number one stadium. For the last two seasons, Gordy Gibbons has done a huge
job for Grand Final day and long may that continue (but only two divisions next year).

I have a feeling that this is now the #1 atheletic ground in Akld therefore unlikely that they's rip the track up etc.

Great to see the crowd out in force , wish I could have been there.
