great idea!

anyone complaining about newcastle townsvill etc not getting a go..

im not sure if you realised this but it costs a lot less to get from townsville to brisbane, or newcastle to anz then it does to fly across the tasman to see a game.

alot of peole from north qld make it down to brizzy for origin every year

it would give the code enormous exposure in new zealand.

Leagu in NZ is unfortunately still stuck as game like by the pac islanders and aucklanders and thats it. Origin may help the game go beyond those markets.

Great idea - I am sure it would sell out Eden Park. Hopefully give NZer's a decent spectacle.

The NZRL and Warriors would have to work out ways to take the momentum given to help themselves. (eg. half priced tickets to warriors, special promo 'mini season tickets for ticket holders etc.)

Isn't there a major problem with any bid from NZ to host an Origin game? Origin is a major live-to-air event on Australian TV. An 8pm kick-off on TV on the eastern seaboard of Australia needs the game to start at 10pm NZ time.

It'll never happen, but I'd like to see an annual one-off match between the winner of Origin (NSW or QLD) vs "NZ Origin" team (chosen from NRL players).

Such a match could be in held in NZ or Townsville, Newcastle, Canberra etc.

It could also go a long way towards encouraging Kiwi eligible players to opt against the lure of NSW or Qld just so they can get to play Origin.

Give NSW and QLD a game each every so often let an outsider bid for the game. Sure cities will be willing to pay the NRL Millions for the chance to hold an origin decider.

you dont mind using our players

the only player "poached" from the nzrl for origin was craig smith. he is the only player to play origin in history who didnt grow up playing rugby league in australia and has no connections to aus. lets hope it doesnt happen again.

That's not always a barrier... I understand the UEFA Champions League final between Man U in Chelsea in Moscow this year actually kicked off after midnight - LOCAL time!

I've always been of the view that they're better off taking an Origin game to NZ than trying to promote it in the Southern States of Australia. ie AFL Territory.
