England couldn't be more happy with today's play. Carberry has basically guaranteed his spot and Cook has played himself into form. Well done to the CA for solving England's top order problems and getting the dominant batsmen of the last series here into form.

Not a bad days cricket for Australia (not Australia XI)

No one is bowling more than 125km/hr (we will be 10-20km/hr quicker with our test bowlers)
Wicket is a batting pearler no different to batting in the nets (let them practice on these decks than the moving Gabba one will provide)

Id be real surprised if one or two of our blokes don't get big tons though

Have to disagree. Every ball Show bowled was like a hand grenade, well that's what I gathered from all the oohing and ahhing and jumping around he did every time the ball hit the middle of the bat.

With a bit of luck he should be able to go through their line up in tomorrow mornings' session.

Australia again performing the worst ever preparation for an Ashes series since the recently completed series.

We're in the sub continent playing one dayers while our 'A' team is here in Australia giving the poms batting practice.

f**king genius.

To be fair, of the blokes in that ODI squad only Watson, Haddin and (shudders) Johnson are likely to be playing in the first Test. (Edit: maybe Bailey).

Not ideal, but you're over selling it a bit.

Faulkner will most likely play 1st test.

They IMO really should have kept Watson and Haddin at home (would anyone cry if they sent Wade over? and kept Haddin to prepare for the ashes here?), if they were serious about Johnson he should have been kept here as well. ITS THE FRIGGIN ASHES THE SO CALLED PINACLE OF CRICKET !!!!!!

Now because of this stupid ODI series., Sunshine wont be able to bowl in the test, so Faulkners odds of playing have shortened

Doesnt look to be prospect of much play for the rest of the match, 3 consecutive days washed out

As a result England are probably preparing indoors in the nets

They have one more game for preparing and acclimatising at the Border field

Our blokes should have been playing in Australian conditions in long forms of the game from as early as they possibly could after the last test they played.

Piss farting around with ODI's and that other parastici whore of a game is not ideal preparation for any test series, especially when you're up against a team thats better.
