This is the exact talent Buzz Rothfield is squawking about for a 17 and 18 team.

Pity most of them are past it.

We've seen a number of Ex NRL players return from SL over last few seasons who were allegedly past it and walked into an NRL starting 17. By no means are their any top tier players in SL but you could make up a decent two sides out of 2nd tier, English, Union and ex NRl talent.

If so I would replace him with Leeds' Joel Moon or Salford's Junior Sa'u.

1. Ben Barba
2. Jake Mamo
3. Peta Hiku
4. Joel Moon
5. Bryson Goodwin
6. Robert Lui
7. Todd Carney
8. David Fifita
9. Kurt Gidley
10. Ashton Sims
11. Glenn Stewart
12. Greg Bird
13. Ryan Hinchcliffe

Interchange: Sika Manu, Adam Cuthbertson, Ben Murdoch-Masila, Mark Minichiello,

That is quite a formidable team.

You'd pick Joel Moon over Joel Monaghan?

You haven't quite picked the strongest possible side of former NRL stars. Here it is:

1. Ben Barba
2. Jake Mamo
3. Peta Hiku
4. Shaun Kenny-Dowell
5. Bryson Goodwin
6. Robert Lui
7. Todd Carney
8. David Fifita
9. Kurt Gidley
10. Ashton Sims
11. Glenn Stewart
12. Greg Bird
13. Ryan Hinchcliffe

This team would thump both Newcastle and Wests Tigers and decisively beat South Sydney.

Don't forget your old Gooster mate Tom Symonds.

Mamo @ 29 games and 11 tries with the Knights over 2 years
Such a top tier player even the knights let him go.
But do go on

TBH we took fitzhenry in SL who had played in the nrl 137 games and was sht so not sure number of games is reflective of talent lol.

Jordan Rankin has now left Wests Tigers and is heading for Huddersfield to join Aussies Jake Mamo, Ryan Hinchcliffe and Tom Symonds. The NRL is leaking players in droves to the SL.

Not a single one a first choice starter in first grade.
Hardly rats leaving a sinking ship; more like mice looking for scraps.

Nope, bench player who filled in for injury or Origin. Never a first choice starter.

You do know it's a 17 man game these days don't you? He played 177 games in 7 years so hardly a fill in just for origin lol

This thread is obviously tongue in cheek. Most of the players listed were never good enough for NRL and the few that were are now in their nadir years.

Huddersfield's Aussies and Kiwis are all good players, most in their prime. Jake Mamo, barely 23, was a rising young star at Newcastle. Hardly "over the hill." That is why Rick Stone bought him for Huddersfield. Ryan Hinchcliffe, 32, was a first choice player for Melbourne Storm. He played 177 games for Melbourne, was Storm's Player of the Year in 2010, and he has an NRL Grand Final ring from 2012. Tom Symonds is 28 (prime years for a forward) and has played first grade for the Sydney Roosters and for Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles. Sam Rapira, 30, is another good prop forward from the New Zealand Warriors in the NRL. This is a quality group of NRL exports whom Australian fans are deprived of seeing in the flesh..

They might be good but what's in the NRL is better. If we had more teams they might still be here.

Why don't you start your own blog ol'mate, saves making up all those threads and gives everyone a chance to more easily avoid or show interest in your point of view . . . much easier, take my word for it
