Unfortunately a certain former spinner has piped up claiming his state (Victoriania) has been "under represented in the Australian side" hence the speculation that Ronny MacDonald & Maxwell are under consideration.

Really keen to head down and watch a couple of days of this match. Anyone know where to get tickets online? I looked on ticketek and couldn't find anything.

If that is the squad they are hopeless. Ferguson plays one good knock and makes the team?? Andrew MacDonald??? Fair dinkum these jokers have no clue.

weird thing for me about that squad, is that there is only 4 specialist batsman. At a time we need to groom or try our middle order specialists, we fill up the A side with bowlers and allrounders

Cosgrove had to be there, is doing ok better than the others. Now, the question, IF he has a good knock here and continues his good form in shield cricket, should he appear in the test middle order should a vacancy appear?

How is there an issue with Andrew McDonald?? He's matured into a pretty high quality player who didn't do too much wrong in his first foray into Test cricket (and actually held down an end as a tight bowler more effectively than a whole array of spinners have since).

His main issue in recent years was finding ways to injure himself when in fine form.

His bowling is tight, economical and he does take wickets and his batting has improved from perhaps more dogged to not being out of place in the short form of the game.

For all that Cam White gets put down - when he was captain of Aust A he did score a 100. I'm a fan of Tim Paine - I hope he can do something worthy.

Maxwell is perhaps under consideration in the same way that a flog called Symonds kept getting picked for an inordinate number of test matches - often based on a performance or two in ODIs.

Joe Burns and Jackson Bird should be there for mine.

Bring back Andrew Hilditch. Inverarity is f**king loopy.

Bird has been form bowler the last year and a bit. not picked. Butterworth has been the best all rounder for a few years now. Not picked, Quniney is 31 and more a one day - 20/20 player

No Burns he's a very good young player, Khawaja started the season in good form not picked WTF is it with these blokes???

Ronny Mac he has been tried and found wanting and the overated one Paine is a lock for unknown reasons when Nevill has out performed him time and time again.

I'm suprised they didn't pick Hogg or Lee  No f**king idea.

Funny isn't how everyone here call players nuffies when they are probably nuffies themselves

Rubbish team. One specialist seamer? In what planet can Hastings, Henriques and McDonald hold up a seam attack?

We have three genuine spearhead bowlers. Siddle is the experienced one, with Pattinson and Cummins as the apprentices. Then we have three 'line and length' bowlers. Hilfenhaus is the experienced one, with Copeland and Hazlewood as the apprentices. Finally, we have two decent

Harris, McKay and Bollinger fall into that 'great results but perennially injured' bracket. Why can't these three make up our ODI attack?

A good system IMO would be:

TESTS - Siddle / Hilfenhaus / Johnson (every now and then, one sits out for Pattinson, Copeland or Starc respectively)

ODI'S - Harris / McKay / Bollinger or Starc

T20'S - Cummins / Hazlewood / Bollinger or Starc

Starc will get plenty of shots, but we need to keep someone like Pattinson and Cummins on cotton wool. Don't be pushing them too hard, too early, or they will break down.

Liam Davis did score a triple century last year and has been picked in every A team as a result.

Coulter-Nile, Hastings, Henriques, McDonald, Maxwell & Smith is a laugable bowling attack.

If Sth Africa win the toss and bat, I think they'll bat the 4 days out.
