First Half:

It's been an interesting first half, Australia leading 8-4. So far we've seen Morley get sent off, and could possibly miss the next tests. Tries to Phil Bailey and Trent Waterhouse for Australia, and one to Brian Carney for Great Britain. This game has so far been a defensive game and both teams are playing up front defence. But the problem with both teams is that they playing panic football in attack, theyve got to play more to the backs and take the options on the last tackle, DONT PANIC.

For Great Britain, sometimes I dont know what goes throught their head on the last tackle, the kicking is still good but arent putting enough pressure on the fullback and the wings. Sean Long is having a shocka no doubt.

For Australia, theyve got to get it out wide and put the big bomb up on the last tackle, and do the same as I suggested for GB take the options on the last tackle, just be patient. They are kicking well and are sure to keep it up.

What a game so far, lets hope we've got a better 2nd half.

GB are going to get nailed next week with an aussie ref, there is no doubt they stayed in the game because of the Pommy ref.

I think any difference in the ref will be countered by the presence of a 13th man mate.

GB & I by 10.

Here's how I saw it, from the perspective of a Sharks fan and written for that forum:

Here's a fair few points about the game
-We were very lucky - completion of sets and kicking game was atrocious
-I dont think GB were particularly good either, we were just bad
-Kimmorley's refusal to go wide was so frustrating, he should have gone off and been replaced with Wing who looked a lot more dangerous with his 3-odd touches of the ball than Kimmorley with his 300-odd (how many times did Hegarty touch the ball? What about Minichiello, Gower and Bailey?!)
That said, his pass to Gower for the try was vintage Noddy and was OUTSTANDING
-Kimmorley shouldnt be defending in the centres - his missed tackle led to the first GB line break and struggled all day, particularly after injury
-Webcke was outstanding I thought and provided a good example for the younger blokes
-Where was Willie Mason? MIA, probably too much booze
-Crocker is a thug and I dont like him representing me, he's a disgrace and he let the team down by being sin binned
-Great Britain's number 7 didnt do ANYTHING for me
-Australia was just awful, we looked like we had less players on the park, when we had more. Where were our backs on Carney's second try?!
-I thought Buderus would be more involved, or is he no one without Johns?
-Bailey no good in the centres, Senior showed him up, Bailey no pace and weak defence, directly led to a try and should have stepped inside when he had a chance at a second try
-Great Britain have obviously been learning the Roosters' defence, they were offside all day, particularly the shooter, but credit to them if they can get away with it...gee they were playing cheap
-Credit to Opes for choosing Wing in the centres, Wing was absolutely outstanding and his pass inside for the match winning try showed that Kimmorley should have gone wide much more often, why do we wait until we are desperate to try and score tries outside?
-Best back Wing, best forward Webcke

-Man of the match, the second English commentator
"This has been a wonderful win for Great Britain" - 62 minute mark
"I would be looking to get down there and go for the one point!" - Brits four points ahead
"They should go for the one!" - same guy, same scoreline

Geez we were lucky, with Morley on the field I think we would have lost. Injuries a worry for Sharks fans - Noddy and Bails in trouble.

That's how I saw it, what about the rest?

Great game

A good effort from both teams, especially Great Britain with 12 players against 13, for 79 minutes. Imagine what wouldve happened if they played with 13 players. It was a great test match, it was hanging in the balance for the full 80 minutes, and its just what we all expected. Just like a Grand Final. The Aussies would be releaved that they got out of jail to win that and go 1 game up in the series, cause at some stages of the game they didnt look like they were going to win it. But they never gave up.

I enjoyed it, and Im hoping for an exciting series, I also hope GB wins so that the series would be tight and theres no dead rubber, I want the 3rd test to be a decider.

Well done to Australia though, the series is alive.

At the risk of sounding like a fool, I actually thought Britian were the better team for the majority of the match and deserved to win.

Bailey is going to roasted and he doesn’t deserve all of it. Kimmorleys defence on the right was what let us down. It was always Bails cleaning up down low. He got stood up once but most of the time he was covering for Kimmorley. If you watch the reply its always Kimmorley missing them and Bailey cleaning it up for him and having to come in which caused the breaks.

Great game though. Better than anything in thew "World Cup" so far.

Congrats to Oz on the win,Craig Wing had a tremendous 2nd half and although the rugby wasn,t top drawer from either side i thought GB dug in well with the 12 men.Looking forward to 13 v 13 next week ,i hope. Bring it on. ;-)

For most of the game I though Britain did better at creating some space for themselves but that Australia took better advantage of the space that they had. Less so in the latter part of the second half, but true for much of the game.

Morley will miss at least the next game, but there's something there for a full British side to work on. It wasn't a convincing win by any means.

Great game enjoyed it immensly....lucky for us that GB were down to 12 men otherwise with "that" game plan they would have wiped the pitch with our guys! What the hell was Anderson thinking?? obviously what he is always thinking....( now.. how can I structure the game so Noddy will look to be the hero?....) Pathetic.
I honestly don't think that there is anyone else that is on tour that will be able to contain Keith Senior in the centres....Bailey probably did as good a job and any of the other players could do.

SS, i agree with most of your points on the Aussies. Thought Wing was great, Webke and even Kimmorley was pretty good. The ref not keeping them back contributed to the lack of width in the Aussie game. I don't think there was one penalty for off side. Having said that, GB found a way to go wide with Senior a few times.

On the GB side of things I thought Fieldon and Peacock really stood up in the pack, and definately enhanced their reputations. Farrell had probably his best game ever against Australia, especially considering he's playing on one leg. Sculthorpe and Senior combined beautifully on the left, and Richie Horne justified Waite's gamble to pick him on the wing. Carney continued his great form.

However I still think GB needs a bit more skill out there. I know it wont happen but I would like to see Gleeson called up for Conolly. Forshaw tackled quite well and I am resigned to seeing him stay for the series. If Morley is rubbed out I would call up Gareth Hock. They need a bit more mobility of the fringe of the ruck.

GB is going to need more pace for Tim Mander as he isn't afraid to blow penalties. McGuire or Burrow for the bench is a must. Long is not the player of a few years back so I would be tempted to drop him for Deacon. But I fear the only changes may be forced.

Clearly it was the best Test I have seen since the one where Ricky Stuart ran 85 mtrs before giving it to big Mal for the victory.

Why was this so?

1. Morley, the cheap shot merchant being sent off inspired the Poms to lift from the very first tackle.

2. The strength and resolve of the Aussie side to come back in the last 5 minutes.

3. The close scoreline had me biting my nails right up to the very last tackle.

4. Brett Kimmorley played well enough to have justified his spot in the Australian side. He did throw the inside ball too often but his fisrt half was sound and that pass to Gower was exceptional.

Why wasn't this test better than the one back in the 90's?

1. The Poms were offside all night.

2. The ref allowed the Poms to lie all over the man playing the ball which stifled our attack yet still managed to penalise us for far lesser infringements. No doubt employed by David Waite to hamper the Kimmorley/Anderson's flat style.

3. The cheap shots from the pommy hooker were shocking, I can't believe Crocker was binned for retaliating while this guy was allowed to job guys on the ground with their arms pinned.

4. The missed tackles (Bailey's miss on Senior being the most prominant) and dropped ball rate from the Aussie's was pretty bad and improvement is certainly needed in the completion rate area.

5. Gus Gould.

Other than that I really enjoyed the match, a real nail biter. I was sitting in my lounge room by myself screaming at the TV. Seeing Chris Anderson shaking the hands of the Aussie players after the game really brought a smile to my face. He still has plenty of passion left in him.
