My team

---------Schwarzer---------
Emerton---Neil---Kisnorbo---Milligan
---Bresciano---Culina---Kewell---
-----------Cahill--------------
---Viduka----Aloisi------

Cahill running off Viduka and Aloisi would be ideal imo and not sap his energy as much as playing CM as well as using his goal scoring ability as much as possible. He'd be replaced at around the 60-70 minute mark for Thompson or Carle. We need to get in front rather then keep coming from behind in the heat. Bresciano,Culina and Kewell can move closer to the middle and create opportunities for Emerton and Milligan running down the wings. Any one of the defenders on the bench would be better then Wilkshire but as the commentaters continuelly pointed out, we need a left footed LB.

My team has to be:

------------------Schwarzer-------------------
--Emerton---Neill-----Kisnorbo----Milligan--
--------------------Grella----------------------
----------Bresciano-------Culina-------------
---Sterjovski----------------------Kewell----
--------------------Viduka---------------------

I'd go with this line up and have Sterjovski and Kewell out on the flanks but I'd give them the license to roam around inside the box when we're attacking. Cahill to be a substitution for either Bresciano, Culina, Sterjovski or Kewell after about an hour of the game. I also wouldn't mind seeing Carney get a go at left-back and to see either Carle or Thompson come onto the pitch as an impact substitution towards the end of the game. Beauchamp also deserves a run IMO.

Very dismal performance by the Socceroos, but I spose it is going to take a while for them to adjust to the conditions. Thank god for Schwarzer and Cahill, if it wasn't for them we would of lost 2 or 3-nil.
Hopefully we improve against Iraq.

fairly ordinary performance from Australia. We were outclassed last night and probably should have lost. I'll take a draw though.

As for the Omani's, f**k how dirty are they? diving at any opportunity, slowing the game down by throwing the ball away whenever there was an Australian penalty.

I've noticed a fair bit of it coming from Asia in generally. Not so much the Japanese or Koreans, but the minnows seem to have a penchant for it. I first noticed it in that Bahrain game last year, saw it continue from certain clubs in the Asian Champions League, and now we're seeing it here.

Conversely, Vietnam played vibrant football last night against a side rated much higher than them. They're a credit to the tournament.

1-0 up, you cant blame Oman for doing all they could to waste time and disrupte Australia's game

I have just seen some of the comments in this thread defending Kisnorbo and you can't be serious. If you watch the highlights nearly every Oman shot on goal was through the centre and past Kisnorbo. He was stepped and left for dead on countless occasions. I have been a fan of his up until now but Oman made him look second rate. His fitness is clearly not where it should be and Beauchamp should come in.

If you're dropping Kisnorbo for bad form, you can't justify allowing Wilshire to continue playing for the Socceroos. He was dreadful, save for one or two promising crosses from the dead ball.

Anyone defending Kisnorbo is off their head. He's f**king rubbish and has the turning circle of a road train. I don't think Beauchamp is much better, but I'd give him a go. Mark Milligan is twice the player Kisnorbo is. Just because he plays in England and Milligan plays in the A-League doesn't mean sh1t. Give Beauchamp a go, if he doesn't work out then Milligan has to come in.

Lucas Neil was absolutely disgraceful also. Hoofing long balls to the Omani keeper for 90 minutes is a joke. He did it against Uruguay and Singapore also. Needs to cut this crap out.

Also, Culina and Grella aren't needed in central midfield against teams like Oman. Save them for Iran, Korea, Japan etc.

My team:

-----------------------Schwarzer--------------------------
Emerton--------Neill---------Beauchamp----------Culina
-------------------------Grella------------------------------
Bresciano---------------Cahill----------------------Kewell
-----------------Viduka---------Aloisi----------------------

Carle on in the second half.

And Culina has played left back before for his club, so there is no reason why he can't play there. He is better than Wilksh1t.

It works pretty well when he does it at West Ham, but he's got Carlos Tevez running onto those balls.

you mean he did have

Until West Ham announce that they've actually given him permission to nergotiate, which they've not done so far - he's still got him there to run onto long balls :p

There is no other viable left back CWB which is Arnold's fault. Milligan plays his best football in the centre, then you have Thwaite who isn't much better. Carney at LB is a pisstake.

Although Wilkshire has bugger all defensive skills, he does have a high workrate so is more likely to last the game without keeling over, which is something the rest of our team seems to be doing.

Hybrid has picked Culina at LB which could work but IMO is a waste to play an attacking player like Culina at LB. Its a waste to have him at CDM but gotta fit every one in the team.

IMO we should go back to what was successful at the world cup, 4-2-3-1 and go from there. Our condition is severly lacking and we need to shore up the defence because Oman should have ripped us a new ahole and won 4 or 5 to 0.

we have to play two strikers.

Against these lower sides like Thailand and Iraq, we'll get even more value from Viduka, his strength and ability to pull in and attract defenders if we have someone playing off him.

Archie Thompson's pace may be a better option than Aloisi.

So who do you drop to the bench to accomodate archie/aloisi?
