Hi shifty pleased to meet you ....

 .....Likewise.

I'm not saying I disagree with you insisting players should show respect for their country, but the way some of you are carrying on is an embarrassment.

If you feel that way, fine. Difference is which of us is overseas representing our country and promoting a sport?

MR Geoff Carr can expect an email on his laptop when he gets back to it

And what will be the gist of that email?

It will involve the degredation of the Australian jumper and number of Fox viewers in the US who would have switched off in the first half. It will involve the waist of money to the ARL, and the need to look at the behaviour of players and coach respectively.

Quit your pathetic whining and carrying on like a little bitch, you're degrading this forum.

i agree with u shifty
the kangarioos goin to america wasnt a disgrace if anything it would of heaped rugby league in america get some people interested into the game

I reckon any sport fan seeing a national team carry on like that during the anthem and the first half, ESPECIALLY in the US where patriotism and respect for ones country and emblems is held in such high regard, would have thought that the guys werent serious and were just there for laughs. How is that going to benefit RL. Nothing wrong with ensuring there isnt to big a blow out but at least have respect for the jumper and the opposition, all of whom are amateurs. Did you hear Niu describing how they give up work to train and play!! How many of our players even have to work!

Full credit to the Americans, they earnt a lot of respect with that performance.

This was an exhibition match and, while it's disappointing that Australia didn't have their minds on the job in the first half, I don't see any problem in them enjoying their football.

As long as there wasn't any bad sportsmanship and the players did eventually provide the crowd with some entertaining football I can't see that much harm has been done.

Even if the American audience weren't that impressed with the Australian performance, there was plenty to like about their team's efforts.

I must say I was incredibly disappointed in the Australian effort. I didn't want them to go out and destroy the Americans 150-0, that would have been completely against what the game was about, but Mason laughing his melon off and the general z grade effort in the first half wasn't what the game was about either.

Glad to see Petro put his head down and lead the way in the second half. New viewers though will wonder about the skill level of the game and it's best players after the first half knock-on-a-thon.

As bad as the Aussies were though the yanks were good. Played smart, maximised their strengths and their enthusiasm never wavered. Keep giving them more games and they'll continue to improve.

re: Costin, I heard he had a religious conversion (Islam?) which is why he changed his name? Anyone confirm this?

Nah it's his birth Dad's name I believe. Pearson was his step-dads name I think and they fell out or something. Nothing to do with religion.

The game was played in a very good spirit and it was refreshing to see the excellent sportsmanship by the Tomahawks.

If they knocked on or turned over possession they handed the ball straight over to Australia. It would be good to see more of that spirit displayed in the NRL.

That is something I would like to see as well, its all well and good to say they are pro's but they set a bad example. Should be penalised like in soccer if they throw the ball away!

I would like to see the Roos play Russia in the future as well.

Its unreal all these smallest nations want to play the Roos! brave...USA have just proven once and for all the International Rugby League is alive and kicking.....sure in a World Cup match they would lose 80-0 but they will improve on yesterdays effort....

1 v 18 - this has to be the greast result in decades!

I'm with you PB. How is he degrading the forum by voicing his concerns over a lack of pride in the green and gold jumper? Considering I, like many others, would give their nuts to play for Australia, with pride. Let alone not respecting your opponent.....
