One thing most of you seem to be missing is that whoever takes out the premiership will get several of there players into the squad ahead of individual form and suitability. This is especially true when it comes to the backs, halves and utilities.
I think well see a Bulldogs and NSW dominated pack as well as a good sprinkling of Roosters, Dragons and Broncos throughout. Penrith might struggle a little, and apart from Buderus, Hindmarsh, BK and a few possible Melbournians (Orford, Slater, Smith, King?) the other teams most probably wont get much of a look in.
The pack is reasonable straight forward to select, with most contenders in career best form whilst the bench looks f-cking unbelievable.
The backline and halves are nothing short of a Willie Mason visit to the Gateway Club; a very big, hard, and at the end of it all, messy problem to deal with. Like the Gateway Club there are many options, its just a question of who gives better bang for buck.
Australian Tri-Nations Test Team & 22 Man Squad:
1. Anthony Minichiello - Rooster
2. Brent Tate Bronco
3. Ryan Cross Rooster (I think hell make it if the roosters win the premiership, otherwise back into the mix)
4. Mark Gasnier - Dragon
5. Matt Cooper - Dragon
6. Darren Lockyer © - Bronco
7. Trent Barret - Dragon
8. Mark OMealy - Bulldog
9. Danny Buderus - Knight
10. Shane Webcke - Bronco
11. Craig Fitzgibbon (gk) - Rooster
12. Andrew Ryan - Bulldog
13. Shaun Timmins - Dragon
14. Nathan Hindmarsh - Eel
15. Willie Mason - Bulldog
16. Jason Ryles - Dragon
17. Craig Wing - Rooster
Squad Contenders (Favorites with  ):
Reserve Prop:
18.
Petero Civenceava - Bronco
 Steve Price - Bulldog
Luke Bailey - Dragon
Joel Clinton - Panther
Reserve Backrow:
19.
Michael Crocker - Rooster
 Ben Kennedy - Knight
Tony Carroll Bronco
Young Forward: (Maybe replaced by second reserve back)
20.
 Anthony Tupou - Rooster
Neville Costigan - Bronco
Brent Kite - Dragon
Reserve/Young Half/Utility:
21.
Craig Gower - Panther
Matt Orford - Storm
Brett Finch - Rooster
Braith Anasta - Bulldog
Brett Sherwin - Bulldog
Mathew Head - Dragon
(Whoever performs better in the finals both as individuals and the team they play for)
I think Braith will struggle with Lockyer and Barret ahead of him at 5/8. If he is considered at lock then he has a really good chance of both squad and starting selection.
Reserve/Young Back: (Maybe two spots in place of young forward or one of the reserve forwards)
22.
Luke Rooney - Panther
Shaun Berrigan (also as utility) - Bronco
 Willie Tonga - Bulldog
Billy Slater - Storm
 Karmichael Hunt - Bronco
Ben Hornby (also as utility) Dragon
Other Contenders that are a step behind:
Brett Kimmorley Shark (Others have stronger claims and better form. I think its time to pass the baton. Still on paper the classiest and most experienced halfback in the comp behind Johns)
Cameron Smith Storm (Buderus, Wing and even Berrigan all with Kangaroo experience ahead of him)
Luke Lewis Panther (Others have stronger claims, esp. in the centres. But there is a lack of genuine wing contenders)
Chris Flannery Rooster (Most probably unlucky not to tour last year, hasnt done much this year to deserve a spot but is a small possibility on the back of some good finals form and if the roosters win it)
Matt King Storm (If Melbourne win it, he could bolt. Again a lack of wingers)
