Overrated.

Anyone can look good beating up D grade plodders in NZ. Melody Belle and Te Akaku Shark are in another state in talent.
He literally lost to Alligator Blood by a nose two weeks ago lol one bad run doesnt sum him up. He worked as good as he ever has all lead up and unfortunately he did everything wrong on the day. Shit happens

I am extremely proud of Jamie Richard's I must say. I have a 3yo with him, very inexperienced and had a couple of setbacks, but in the time I've been with Te Akau hes been incredible. You can tell how hard he works and how much he puts into each of his horses so I'm just over the moon for the guy. Hes doing us kiwi's very proud.

I was hesitant with the hype around Catalyst because he reminded me so much of Xtravagant who came over a few years ago... was absolutely destroying the 3yos in NZ then ended up starting $3 in the Guineas and flopped and did nothing else in Australia.

I know Catalyst had won over a mile in NZ but his racing pattern isn’t that of a miler imo. He was great first up in Aus over 1400 but yesterday when the pace went into the race it proved to be a true 1600 I don’t think he handled the pressure or the trip.

*Edit just for reference I think he’s a good horse, I’d be finding a nice 1300-1400m race around Caulfield to target

Aligator Blood was pretty meh 2 weeks ago, we saw the gulf the the class difference Saturday. Always say the same thing- these NZ horses are better in the 2nd prep and that’s if they are good, there aren’t many that are.

AB is always going to be better getting out to 1600m+, actually looks a horse that might get 2000m+. First up was 1400m. It was basically a dawdle and then a sprint home. Looked great but honestly we saw the gap on Saturday. AB flogged it by 8L lol

You are the one that has overrated a NZ horse based off it flogging some duds at Ellersie or whatever. Melody Belle and Te Akaku Shark has panels on that thing! The Shark actually has a group 1 in Australia and a placing in a Cox Plate. Catalyst has been grossly overrated, and it's not a miler. It MIGHT with the amount of group 1's win a 1400m one in Australia, but that's it's limit.

At least it provided an almighty laugh last weekend after calling for the Uber 200m out lol, was panelled by Soul Patch!

Do you seriously believe the dribble you write lmao? Firstly, how can you say he's overrated when he literally ran a nose 2nd to Alligator Blood two weeks ago? Everyone including the trainer and jockeys were expecting him to improve as a result of that run as well as his track work in the lead up. The race pattern didn't suit him, he didn't settle anywhere near as well as he has been, he had a look around at the horses which he hasn't done since his debut and just completely switched off in the straight. It was a shocking performance, no doubt about it, but it's more of a forget and forgive run. Will be making my judgement on him on his next run with the blinkers back on.

One bad run and Locky gives them life and an unfunny nickname.

If they can’t win 31 straight like Winx he doesn’t rate them.

You are welcome to forgive the overrated thing. Hope it’s backed again means we’ll get a better price for the real chances. Happy days there. Will be leaving it out of anything.

Blaming race patterns is the biggest cop out, good horses win regardless of patterns and they definitely aren’t smacked by half the straight.

Rather back the other two NZ horses they have proven it more and are better horses.

You don't have a great understanding of Horse Racing do you champ. I guess your logic applied to Te Akau Shark as well before this weekend, a bunch of 2nds and a 3rd in the Cox Plate last Spring, albeit drawn the carpark and unsuited by the race patterns?

You do realize horses have bad days lol. Not every horse is Winx or Black Caviar lmao
