I saw My Morning Jacket supporting Neil Young in Sydney last night.

Not having heard any of their stuff before, I was quite impressed and will probably scout around for a CD.

I thought Neil Young was fantastic, just quietly. Thrashed all the strings on his guitar in the encore, which was a rocked up cover of the Beatles' Day In The Life. He still had a load of energy for a 60+ year old. Great gig.

Mike Patton was insane, never seen someone use vocals like an instrument like he does.

I know what you mean, but the thing that bothered me so was that you rarely pattons voice because it was heavily masked with effects and samples. Mike Pattons one of the better vocalists around and seeing him was an experience, but i would've loved to have just seen him belt out a bit without the effects.

A few things,

I just got back home from Serj Tankian. We went more for the Fantomas, tbh. Mike Patton was insane, never seen someone use vocals like an instrument like he does. Serj was OK, i mean his showmanship/perfmance really outshone the setlist... and Twiz they played Money from ABBA... which def made me go 'wtf.' Still great night out, my first at the Enmore and i loved it and the surrounding newtown area. It has its own sub-culture IMO, just an awesome place to experience. Will be going back there for Jeff Beck next week and then AiC in Feb, looking forward to revisit the atmosphere of Newtown

Went to that aswell.

Patton is a legend.

The Abba song Serj did was sick, and he did Bowie aswell I believe didn't he.

i went to the gc one last sunday. mainly went to see DKM again and they were a disapointment tbh. only 2 songs from their best album (sing loud, sing proud) and too many newer songs, and they didnt invite all the girls on stage for kiss me im sh*tfaced like usual :(

living end and bullet for my valentine were awesome tho. fantomas went alright too.
