"Next week, however, it is St George Illawarra who will be lighter on. Forwards Matt Prior and Jeremy Smith both left the field with suspected posterior cruciate ligament tears that could sideline them for up to four weeks". Daily Telegraph

Time for Costigan and Greenfield to fill the void

One positive is Smithy probably wont play the test against Australia, if he is out for 4 weeks.
That will mean we will have another fresh player for the match that weekend, which we will need given half the side will be in the test match or city country match.

Just quietly, I think Weyman has a niggle also.
He was doing plenty of stretching / tests on the sideline before going back on in the second half. I know it's normal for a player to do a quick warm up before he goes back on, but he was basically cycling, stretching, jogging on the sideline for 20mins before he went on again. Clearly trying to keep his leg warm so it didn't cool down too much.

Costigan should be back in also. But Prior and Smith are big losses. We will be vulnerable against
titans. I will be looking for Soward to step up in this game.

The titans must be in good fettle, knocking off the sh!t from Melbourne.

Trying to put a good spin on things, sounds like the injuries aren't as bad as Fein's extended time off.

I didn't notice Smith looking lame, but Prior looked pretty second hand.

Fingers crossed.

Weyman has a groin injury that is a bitch to get right. He'll be able to play with the right stretching and what not, so long as it doesnt get worse, but it is an injury that requires quite a bit of non gamer time to heal.

Weyman has osteitis pubis, so that's going to bug him all season, but is manageable with retricted training and lots of physio. The only way to get rid of it is complete rest and physio.

Would it have been arrogant to rest him for the Donkey game?? Next weeks game will be far more of a challenge. I'm not sure if a 14 day rest would do a whole heap of good, but it wouldn't have hurt and also avoided a knee, hammy, shoulder or ankle injury that could have come out of the game.

Mary's not around, so I guess they know how to handle it.

Two huge losses for us. Smith's defence around the ruck will be missed, particularly against the likes of Friend. I think Young and Priddis will have to play big matches.

I suspected one of our props must have been struggling given that Merrin was initially named as the 18th man.

Beau Scott was MIA from the Red V fan day - sources say he is injured
He's such a big loss if he is - he has all facets of the game covered, he's a brilliant centre, he attacks and defends with the confidence of a forward and hes just an overall 'machine'

Worse news than Smith IMO with Peni, Prior and Goodwin also injured who I would pick to replace him (if they were fit).

Coops said he was ok today, just a cork.
Wouldn't Emmett repacle beau if he was out? Otherwise big Nev may end up out in the centres.

Saffy and Merrin not there, also. Their names were on display as were Smith, Scott and Prior. Let's hope not too much damage in the playing ranks.

We were flat against the Broncos. I couldn't help thinking, at the time, that a couple of players were carying niggling injuries. I think the Melbourne game took a lot out of us... and Melbourne evidently.

Luckily for us the Gold Coast aren't really a bruising team, but it will be a quick game. Perhaps the fresh legs could be a blessing in disguise for us?
