Slater is an excitement machine.

Bloody hell, 9 times out of 10 there would have been someone else back there to grab the ball. It just wasn't Australia's night.

Who gives a f**k?

Was he replaying the way he gifted them that try?

He is a clown.

I was replying to the guy calling him an arrogant twat... Gee staying back and talking with the fans after you've just lost the world cup final sure reeks of arrogance doesn't it?

Dickhead..

whoppet fricke doo.
Slater is the goose who cost Oz the cup.
Hunt would never have done something so DUMB

cutie would never have set up the Williams try with a great cut out pass, either. Nor scored all the ones that Slater did - remember wrong footing Calderwood 3 times after a long run? cutie is not even in the ball park. Slater made a mistake, but those who never make mistakes are the ones who never try anything. cutie is like Ben Kusto in his effectiveness.

But blame Slater - not Thurston's miss in a crucial goal, not Inglis' no show, not Heather's in goal knock on, and not the rest of the side for lettiing in the other 5 tries.

And Hunt would've never set up the 2 tries Slater did. How did Slater cost them the game the margin was 14 points not 4

Bloody momentum changer....giving them a GIFT 4 pointer....I repeat, Hunt would never do that. Run the ball back hard and get on with it.
Slater is a twat and this is a clear reason why Hunt has his number in origin football. Meninga knows how to win games....he picks hunt

Would Hunt have set up the 2 tries Slater did?

Pretty much.

But you forgot Monaghan as well.

Who does the Australian selectors think they are taking only 2 props into a World Cup final?

Slaters mistake was pivotel.

NZ took their opportunity and embarresed an arrogant Australian team.

Billy Slater saw a chance to make a hero of himself by scoring a length of the field try but instead he ballsed up and directly cost Australia the World Cup.

Simple as that.

He is a turd.

Slater's selfishness nearly cost Australia the 1st try as well, he should have used his support but used the glory option and tried to go on his own, he may have gotten the assist, but that was more pure luck than skill, ball could have bounced anywhere off the Kiwis player chasing, lucky for him it was knocked straight onto Lockyers cheast

Easily the best player in the world at the moment.

Aus would have struggled to score a single point without him as evidenced by his early assists.

Why does everyone go on about whether Hunt would've set up those tries? If Hunt was there the team structure would have been different...Playing from fullback at test level is more about minimising mistakes more than trying to win games all on your own...

Lockyer never had that attitude when he was playing fullback.

Hunt is sh*t. End of story.

Slater set up 2 tries, cost one. Hunt would have set up none, so Australia would have been beaten - theoretically, 34-16.

Should have picked Ben Kusto as well, I guess!

Lockyer was brilliant but he was first and foremost a safe fullback. Slater is not, particularly under pressure and has done nothing to suggest otherwise.

Considering Hunt regularly sets up tries running off Lockyer for the Broncos, its pretty remarkable that you think he couldn't do it in a test.
Slater reminds of two other players who play(ed) on pure instinct but left there brains in their bags in the change rooms, Justin Hodges and Dale Shearer.

And realised his mistake, put him at fullback ahead of Slater....and they won the last 2 games and the third series in a row.
MOM? who gives a toss....its about WINNING....something Slater cost Australia doing.

Spot on champ.

Noone can argue with Slaters attacking ability but he folds like a deck of cards under pressure. He also has a pretty crap sense of reality on the field too, why he took on the side line in that play I will never know. I dont think he has a good footy brain at all.

Arrogant play by an arrogant player. Definitely let the 'best player in the world' rubbish get to his head. If you're looking for the moment the Aussies lost the cup, that was it.
