So Bankwest stadium has its opening on Monday and the game isn’t live on the home of rugby league? Scheduling masterpiece!

Fox's coverage was brilliant. Glad it wasnt on Nine. Great build up live from the stadium, then the game in glorious HD with Vossy commentating and then NRL360 live from the stadium so we got the footage in background of all the fans on the pitch. Great job Fox League, the real home of RL!

Missing a major point! Only 30% of the potential audience got to see it! Coverage was great but with a minimized audience ? Not so great?! Someone let the "secret " out please!

As a TV game, would people watch a 51-6 drubbing? Many neutrals would have turned off once it was obvious it was a blow out, as I dare say would many Tigers supporters.

Fact is you pay for what you get. Channel 9 only pay for 1 game on Thursday night, 1 game on Friday night and 1 game on Sunday afternoon. They knew when the stadium was opening. They also would have had input with the NRL as to trying to get it scheduled for 4.00 pm on a Sunday. Nine never do the game any favours, even when they are contractually obliged to (e.g. not televising Finals games live when contractually obligated to do so).

Oh yes I can see the promotion now - "Watch the game for the brand new stadium, watch the plastic seats, see the new scoreboard, watch the LED signage go on". Yes I'm sure the TV stations would have the viewers lining up for that

If you don't think someone watching that game on tv with a near full modern stadium is not a positive for the code then we will continue to disagree.

It's the novelty value it will wear off...Basically I watch the game for the game not the location Henson Park will be a good place to watch Rugby League....

What? This is like the only week this year where a Thursday night game actually makes sense. We’d be crazy to scrap it this week.

ANZ is awesome when it's full, I agree that a crowd less ANZ doesn't look good for the game, Suburban grounds need to be protected the Likes of Shark Park, Jubilee Oval, Win Stadium, Brookie, Ive been to all those grounds and the atmosphere is just as good.

Agreed atmosphere when full is great at these small grounds but they arent a great look for the game either. I was with a group of AFL mates and flicked the TV over to a game at Leichardt, they were staggered at how basic the stadium was and likened it to a WAFL level comp.

I understand I used to live 20 min walk to Shark Park when I was a kid I used to walk to Endeavour field and pay my $4 to watch the Sharks play people still hold on to those traditions and Rugby League is built on those traditions

Conversely I know AFL people from Melbourne whom genuinely like and respect the NRL use of traditional home grounds. They say the localness and cultural value adds to the flavour and respect of the contest. Keeping in mind Sydney is very different to Melbourne landscape wise. This impacts on travel to and from grounds in all sorts of ways. Its a delicate and geographically challenging terrain in Sydney compared to Melbourne.

A very simple look at the schedule for this fortnight shows that Ch 9 already pick up an extra two games than usual - Good Friday and ANZAC Day afternoon games.

I don't think this is a big deal as some here are saying. If anything it could've detracted from the attendance given that it would be more easily accessible to people.

Also - the Easter Monday game has been exclusive to Fox for a number of years now.
