Yeah I'm just happy we're moving on from this. It's hard to make a judgment when you've only got the word of Tyrone and Mitch to go off with no further evidence available.

I've never been a fan of Tyrone Peachey ever since he wanted out of his Titans contract not long after joining them. He's the anti-thesis of the sort of player I'd want at my club. If you're going to play for a football club, you have to go in there 100% and commit for the entire duration of your contract. Not just go there to save your NRL career and make an easy dollar. You need to be passionate about the club you're joining or you're just wasting everyone's time.

But I'm not going to say Tyrone made it up, it may be what he genuinely heard. Whether he misheard or not I agree with the sentiment that racism has no place in our game. But unlike the court of social media I don't believe in guilty until proven innocent.

If there was clear evidence against Barnett or if he admitted to it then I would expect the NRL to deal harshly with it and at least suspend him for the finals series or into next year. But given he says he didn’t say it and there’s no evidence to incriminate him I’m inclined to believe him.

Obviously racism has no place in the game and I would expect our club to deal with it appropriately if he had said that but it sounds like it could have been a mistake. Also I will say that due to everything going on in the world right now and the current political climate it’s possible that Peachey thought he heard something that he didn’t. I’m not saying that he made it up but given how front of mind the issue may have been for him maybe he mistook something else that was said.

I would hope that the club makes it clear to the players that whilst they are leaving this particular matter where it is, that anything like that in the future is completely unacceptable and punishment will be hard.

Remember we have the logo of Awabakal on our shorts, and we have a strong history and relationship with indigenous Australia. We’ve come too far for this crap.
