Be surprised if they’d consider giving up one of their young middles… but if they’ve been eyeing up bringing back Cobbo, who seemed open to it when he made the move, then yea letting Mariner/Karipani go would free a spot.

But like @Big Marn pointed out it wont be a simple thing being swapped back here. Although Karipani only moved there during covid so may still have strong family ties here. Be a full circle move for him wouldnt it.

Yeah you can't, really. Penrith didn't get anything for JFH. It's just one of the things you have to accept in the NRL, that if you sign someone from out of state/overseas, they're always a chance of wanting to go back home.

I don't mind at all Cam George saying we want a player swap but if I'm whichever club, I'd say he's asked you to be released on compassionate grounds...he's chosen us, we're under no obligation. What are you going to do, discompassionately tell him to stay if we don't?

Never has there been a greater indicator that AI sucks than it recommending Kaufusi, who is 34 this year, a massive penalty/suspension magnet and broke Laban's leg last year, so wouldn't be wildly popular.

Karapani is off contract, born and raised in South Auckland, an Otahuhu Leopard and a Pakuranga College boy (same as I think Kurt Atkins was, who played a game for us in 2004 and got cartoon smashed by Adrian Morley)
