I'll offer Brent Barrett EUR 50 to never set foot between the Cook's & George's rivers again...

If you do get him, then you have a very nice looking team next year for Bennett to coach:

1. Hornby
2. Nightingale
3. Gasnier
4. Cooper
5. Sailor
6. Barrett
7. Soward
8. Weyman (Bennett will do wonders for him)
9. Woolford
10. Ryles
11. Creagh
12. Saffy
13. Young

14. Webb
15. Reynoldson
16. Poore
17. Hunt

it would have been interesting to see what bennett could have got out of barrett.

but quite rightly, we shouldn't be throwing big biccys at backs we don't need. - we need a better pack - plain & simple. we should throw huge coin at a dummy half.

strange - under bennett, fewer of the stars seemed to be frequently out injured. what do you make of that?

i seem to think his players would crawl over sh*t & through the pain barrier to play footy.

we've lacked that for nearly 10 years.

i blame the coaches & the guy with big jowls.

You might have something there Greg. He certainly got Lockyer to play injured often enough, but I wonder if we're now seeing the long term effects of that.

In any case, and in my opinion, a player should be back out on the pitch asap to avoid losing match fitness.

But it does seem that the club are given hell if players come back too early and get injured after 5 minutes, so its probably a no-win situation for them. However I do recall Thommo working his arse off to get back on the pitch... if he was injured, he often came back weeks ahead of schedule.

There are of course players who ignore or hide their injuries in order to get selected. Mathew Head is a good example of a player who was playing injured. Then there are those who pull up lame at the first sign of an ingrown toe-nail... no examples neccessary.

When an injury prone player is ruled out for extended periods, are coaches pressuring them to stay sidelined for fear of making an injury worse? Or are players engaging in a bit of self preservation?

Probably a bit from column A and a bit from column B.
