I'll say this once, if eelsta is suggesting that there's much more to this than meets the eye than I would keep an open mind to it and the same goes for Jodeci who himself revealed something yesterday.

no worries, I went through the lot just to find it.
I wonder who else we'll sign. Will we target another half?
If we spend no more than $250k on barrett, should be good business and leave more $$ for other signings

Im worried more about the long term planning to be honest.
Barrett will have a shot at it for one year but in 2012 will retire.
I really hope there is someone in the reckoning and that person ISNT Mortimer.

Who are they buying, Hannat has returned to them and they may get Inglis but they are lossing Falou and a few forwards. Most of their success has been from local jnrs like Hoffman, Yow Yee and Gillett just like us being able to stand up (who they will loss if they cant afford to off them better $$ later on). We bought Poore, Tahu and Shak but they arnt were never going to be the core of our success rather it was going to be the likes of KK and Mortz standing up which didnt happen.

Yes you are right "buying" was a poor choice of words.
The local juniors that they have signed up - Norman, Gillett etc.. will be stars in the next few years and they are so very young.
Add Inglis, Hannant and the talent they already have, they will be a good bet for next year.

Talking about Cronk, I HAVE heard that there is a fair bit of fracturing in the big 4 as Inglis has told the others flatly that he wont be going to Brisbane,no matter what the media says and Ive been told that the contract has been signed.
When Cronk etc realise that Inglis has left the sinking ship, it may convince them all to look around.
600K to join a stable club like the eels may be too much of a good thing to pass up.

I would still keep an open mind with Barrett, i'm certainly not saying either way...

in regards to cronk, things haven't changed at our club, we will not die wondering.

I personally think the halfback should be paid the most amount of money in the team. He is the quarterback.
I just get the s*its when we pay 250K for a winger !
I think Parra will offer him what he wants - 600K , The captaincy, 5 year contract .. anything.

Nobody in the team should get more then Hayne. Under no circumstances should Cronk get the captaincy. When we jag the comp and if Hindmarsh chooses to stay he should be our captain.

Cronk should be paid $400K tops.
