I honestly don't know if there is a clear majority one way or the other so I thought I'd stage a poll.

Simple question, simple answer.

Should we sign Trent Barrett?

Id say yes for one year, depending on price, if he wants over 300k then no.

I vote nay. I would rather not replace an aging half with another aging half.

This thread isn't really intended to descend into an argument one way or the other, I just wanted to see how most shark fans felt on the matter.

When is the great announcement going to be made to the masses.

There has been more scoops going around this joint then an ice creamery.

I've been waiting for ever to hear these "this friday" annoucements.

Cheers

Yes
for pure comedy value.

It would no doubtly piss off the Dragons.

I see Bird as an all running all ball playing lock.

Barret has plenty of toe and loads of experience.
The farger carved up Noddy on more than one occasion.

At least it will be a complete replacement for the Gnome leaving.
With the forum split 50% over Barrett, there are a lot of people going to be back peddling & copping a lot of Shyte from the other half.
I can't wait to start on you guys after Trentham gets MOM in game 1 next year on Ch9 Friday night.

I will start with Quigs & IMA

He'll be watching the game as well.
Because he'll be injured.

hahaha, I don't have a problem changing their minds. It's people that don't that are idiots.

I am against Trent, but if we sign him, I'd much rather he play great and prove me wrong than play sh*t and prove me right.

Who the hell would rather be right than have the Sharks play great footy?

Trent is a great player. There is no doubt about that. None.
People are pulling figures out of their Asssess & reckon they know what value he is or should be.
If trentham is the missing link in Stickys game plan, the key piece that finally links our players & creates the fluid foootball he is searching for, what is his value really. If it brings the trophy, how much is he worth? Are there any other players out there on the market , that fit Stickys game plan?
for instance, is Trentham left or right footed/handed? How does that work with Toops & Fraser down the right hand side?

A vote in the negative in this poll is a vote that you think Trent is a bad player. Simple as that.

Fence sitters look out!

Rubbish. If you want to put it down to 1 thing, it's more a fact of whether he is a bad buy rather than a bad player.

And for that there are a variety of factors that come into consideration including how much he would cost, his age, how many games he will likely play, other options (as you have pointed out) Whether he is actually needed.

FFS if we buy him, he wins us the next 2 premierships are you going to get more joy out of being right and proving the people who disagreed with you wrong, or the fact we have actually won 2 premierships?
