Rubbish. If you want to put it down to 1 thing, it's more a fact of whether he is a bad buy rather than a bad player.

And for that there are a variety of factors that come into consideration including how much he would cost, his age, how many games he will likely play, other options (as you have pointed out) Whether he is actually needed.

FFS if we buy him, he wins us the next 2 premierships are you going to get more joy out of being right and proving the people who disagreed with you wrong, or the fact we have actually won 2 premierships?

Exactly

No that is rubbish. It comes down to whether he is a good player or not. Nobody on this forum is in a position to value any of the footballers until their time has finished.
When Kimmorley was signed to 1 year deal I originally though he was an ok footballer.
Then I realised he was rubbish & we upgraded his contract to 350k per year for 5 years.
It was not whether i thought he was worth the money, it was the fact he was a rubbish player. in the washup now I can see that a large portion of his money was a waste. Not all.
Kimmorley is a rubbish player with limited skills irrelevant if he is on 20k or 500k
Barret is a class player with a great skill set that will compliment our current squad regardless if he is paid 20k or 500k.

Anybody who is saying he is a bad buy is doing so with next to nothing of all the information available to make such a judgement.

"Is he a good player or a bad player". That is the question.
Whats he worth? Thats up to Zapps & stick & the market as they are the only ones who have the information to make that decision.

How much does he cost? You have written him off already without knowing.
How old did JAson Smith play to? Cliff Lyons, ET. Age has nothing to do with it. The ability to play up to the required standard is what it is all about. Linford Christie competed until the age of 44 & was olympic ranked!!
how many games he will likely play
Coaches & CEO's would love to see your test kit for that. it will save them millions!!
other options (as you have pointed out) Whether he is actually needed.
Obviously, he is.

Sticky made 3 consecutive grand finals with another 30 something 5/8 whose game wasn't dissimilar to Barrets.

This gifted 5/8 also struggled to make a huge impact in finals football as a senior player until the right coach came along. Winning the "games most overated" tag and what not.

After three years under sticky, the guy will probably be named an immortal one day.

Baz is the key, in more ways one. Promoting a team with the Australian backrow, and baz(man of steel) at 5/8 will sell itself.

be surprised if NRL players aren't already on them.
HGH is non detectable & is not performance enhancing. It just helps injuries. & helps you fit into your swimmers.

depends on how HGH is aministered

some "supplements" taken orally will pass through your system in 48 hours - that is why there is no such thing on this earth as a "natural body building competition"

administer through IV and some are detectable up to 9 months after the last shot

and of course there are masking agents

At least it will be a complete replacement for the Gnome leaving.
With the forum split 50% over Barrett, there are a lot of people going to be back peddling & copping a lot of Shyte from the other half.
I can't wait to start on you guys after Trentham gets MOM in game 1 next year on Ch9 Friday night.

I will start with Quigs & IMA

I've been out the back training.... back peddling ... jabbing like Fammo, our second ever title holder.... jab, duck, weave, splatt on the nose, jab, jab, on the nose., dance butterfly, jab.

Barrett is a whinging over-rated ex stain. I'll get one of the girls from the C Dubyah A to knock up a nice cushion for him to sit on when he is sidelined.

Master of the forward pass.

He ain't no Cliffy Lyons and sure as sh!t I hope he ain't no Lynford Christie.
Aussie Joe Bugner won a title at 51 I think. Is Trentham a bit like Aussie Joe.?

Anyhow Ive pencilled in training three days a week, I'll be ready for game one Friday Night next year... my punt is MOM will be Paris. He is bound for a good one eventually.

Jab, jab, back peddle, jab, jab, back peddle, (how good am I Fammo)

Cheers

Yes for me. He's a bloody good player.
Imagine Trent going to the line with Gallen and Tupou running off him and Kearney trailing. Sounds good to me.

over priced, over rated and has played his best footy years ago.

He isn't exactly setting the world on fire in the ESL like Jamie Lyon was...and look what he has done since his return to the NRL...sweet f*ck all

So thats a no from da snoop

I think investment has to be made more into centres and wingers for the club.

Bird/Seymour will work in the halves and all we have to do is find another younger half as back up.

Our backline at the moment has limited flair and speed.

People spruiking that Barrett will get the ball to the backs more and this will fix everything are kidding themselves.

The ball has got out to them a fair bit this year and especially in our last few games with limited results.

If Kearney or Pomeroy weren't in the side we would truly have the worst backline in the Clubs history.

Barrett wants 400k.

I'd rather buy 2 outside backs with that money.

if we do get him and I hope we don't and he proves me wrong well so be it. I will cop what you dish out Reefman because in the end all I want is Sharks to win a premmy.

I am going by what has been reported in the media. At 400k it is too much IMO. Do you think he is worth 400k?

For around 300k I would probably be a lot warmer to the idea, as if it didn't work out as a half he could move into the outside backs.

How old did JAson Smith play to? Cliff Lyons, ET. Age has nothing to do with it.

Awesome, so should we go those 3 players as well? Those guys are the exception more than the rule.

The ability to play up to the required standard is what it is all about.

Exactly, whether or not he is up to it I also have my doubts.

Coaches & CEO's would love to see your test kit for that. it will save them millions!!

So would I and I don't even know the answer. But do you ever expect Benji Marshall or SBW to play every game? Comes down to a variety of things including age (which affects rehab time), judiciary record and proneness to injuries, or injuries that flare up time and time again like dodgy shoulders or knees.
