It will make sure that Trent Barrett does not feel like he has a mortgage on the 5/8 spot. He will have to fire if he wants to be in the 5/8 posi for NSW then Australia.

At Saints, I reckon The Face thinks he can do what he likes - even though his return on the club's investment has been quite mediocre.

Look how well he has performed at State & National level when challenged. If that could translate to club form I'd certainly lose a sliver of my healthy cynicism for the bloke...

I've been saying for a while now that Lockyer would slot in well at five-eighth. You could almost use Trent as an extra back rower in attack, but shift back to five-eighth in defence & Lockey drop back to full-back as the opposition would no doubt run at him all day if he were there...

Locky is one of the best footballers I have seen, there is no argument about how good he is. I am sure he could play 5/8 for aus and play it well. The key question is where is he best served in the green and gold. #1

He is a natural fullback. As for 5/8 Baz is a better 5/8 than Locky is. Look at the sttrengths of Baz's game, his running, direct passing, footwork, vision, defence, especially front on defence, ohhhh there we go there is the clincher. Baz's front on defence compared to lockies.

Worlds apart. Locky can defend, but he does not have the same sting in defence. Why would the broncs use him at 5/8 in attack and fullback in defence?
Because he is not a complete 5/8.
