Baz & Marsh were both at fault, but....

IMO, this board has taken this all out of proportion. Marsh came in with the elbows cocked, hitting Barrett.

Barrett got up like a gate in the wind

They were both at fault & acted in the heat of the moment. So why make it more than that?

People love this stuff in a game.

A great game of football by both sides for 80 minutes, one incident lasting 1 minute at most.

And what do people talk about. The one minute.

I am watching this game again for the simple fact that their was some spectacular footy played tonight.
Well done both sides.I am frothing at the mouth looking forward to watching them both for the rest of the season.

It was finals footy esque that's for sure. Very tough game in which the Dragons seemed to have all the territory but just couldn't break the defence close to the line. Their two tries both came from kick recovery mistakes and you have to take your hats off to the Eels defensive effort, epitomised by Hindy's chase to save a try.

Agree with the original post... btw I hope people don't make a big deal about Barrett hitting Marsh while his back was turned. I mean he (PJ) didn't exactly make any effort whatsoever to turnaround... actually, after the initial hit he kinda just stood there staring at the other end of the field. I thought to myself "wow... he must be a bit thick", then I saw his after-match interview and was proven right. No great surprise to see Glenn Morrison in there swinging either.

Anyways it was a great game to watch, there's been some fantastic football on TV for the last week and a half... Sharks/Broncos, NSW/QLD, Parra/StG. Shame we've got to watch Newcastle on Sunday, but who knows what'll happen. Almost makes up for having to stay up all night to see a delayed telecast.

Marsh knows (even though it explicably turned out not to be the case) that he's in trouble, his first thoughts are protesting his innocence to the referee. Meanwhile Barrett has got in a copule of cheap shots.

some on Manly's forum are saying it's just like what hoppa did and March should've been put on report then sent off.

That's even funnier
Galloway didn't get up for how long after he was hit?

I don't know, but Hoppa's football career is over because of that hit, Galloway's isn't.

Ahhh, some interesting *cough* views...

Marsh was following the play. something Barret should have done, instead of carrying no like he was a Roosters backrower.

Barrett really blotted his copybook with me lst night. I have had him earmarked for the sort of pedestal that Daley, Fittler, Loceyer, Johns et al stand on. Last night, when his side needed leadership, he instead lost his head and carried on like an idiot.

No one objects to a punch being thrown in anger. To carry on like that, wether he deserved to or not, let his side down badly.

Compare it to how Fittler and the Chooks handled Vilisanti's head clash in the '02 decider.

I think you mean "like a gate in the wind"

You'll have to accept that your opinion on the incident is a minority one with most fans.

The fact that Barret punched Marsh from behind is what most fans are unhappy about. A very unmanly action from anyone.

Why would Hoppa get sent of for hitting a bloke in the chest with a forearm?

If only he could ever play so cleanly......

well in my view that isn't what happened.

baz will have a sore chin this morning though

as i saw it, it was the left hand that got him on the chin when his arms were crossed... purely an accident and barret overreacted.

i rekon he shoulda been penalised more for it (report, sin bin)..overreacting and starting a fight.. marsh got hit in the head twice, so u cant tell me u can just "leave it on the field"

so why were they both at fault?? 1 was an accident, the other wanted to smash his face inside out.

another good point raised in the game was that 3rd, and 4th men raced in... how come they didnt get put in the sin bin... in the end, it shoudla been like a game of 7s if they want to keep it "consistent"

Third man in is worth questioning - but bloody hell Marsh needed defending. I noted Cayless and Hindmarsh race in to defend PJ, and a host of Saints players stopping them.

Funniest thing though was the seeing 9 saints players prefer to join a stink rather than tackle McKinnon!

His fist clearly hit Barrett on the chin

Hmm, I wonder if it would have been TRY if it were at Kogarah...

Home ground advantage I guess

I've said elsewhere, that was the first time in a veeeery long time that advantage like that has been played.

The precedent has been set now...
