Mylo cancels impending Australian tour due to illness

The Big Day Out’s Boiler Room headline live act Mylo has canceled his impending Australian tour. Mylo is one of the dance scene’s fasted rising stars, having turned heads across the world since the release of his formative debut album ‘Destroy Rock & Roll’. He was due to feature on the national Big Day Out tour performing with his live band, as well as solo sideshows in Sydney (at Home on January 28th) and Melbourne (at the Prince of Wales on February 2nd). If you bought tickets to Mylo’s sideshow you’ll be able to gain a refund from your point of purchase. In an official statement from the Big Day Out, Mylo's management stated:

“Myles contracted a virus over the New Year which
resulted in partial hearing loss in one ear. Unfortunately the situation has since worsened and he has lost hearing in one ear completely, and has only partial hearing in his other ear. He was hoping that a couple of days rest would help regain his hearing. However, since his arrival in Cape Town for a show and receiving specialist medical treatment, unfortunately no progress has been made. As a result of this, he is grounded in Cape Town and unable to move at the moment. As you can probably imagine it is impossible for him to perform right now and therefore we regretfully have to cancel the Big Day Oout shows.”

The White Stripes are now only a maybe...

Jack White Suffers Throat Ailment, Postpones Gigs

Matthew Solarski reports:
Art is hard, mused Cursive, and now Jack White is finding out the hard way. The White Stripes announced Monday that their four-date Japanese tour, scheduled to kick off tomorrow, has been postponed because, according to a post on their official website, "Jack White is suffering from an acute vocal cord problem." That, my friends, officially sucks.

The post continues, "As part of his treatment, the doctors have instructed Jack not to speak or sing for the next two weeks." And so, for at least a fortnight, there will be no screeching, yowling, or touting of the Coca-Cola from Mr. White. (Coke has to be murder on your throat, anyway.) There will only be touting of Marc Jacobs apparel courtesy of Meg White, who was recently announced as the face of MJ's latest campaign. Simply darling.

The Stripes "hope to reschedule [the postponed] dates as soon as we can" and are confident Jack will make a recovery in time for the Big Day Out Festival, which begins January 20 in New Zealand.

Is this year BDO the worst line up ever? It all comes down to personal taste i suppose but i just think this years line up is a pile of trash. The White Stipes are OK, i like one of their songs, but that is about it.

Yep. I was finally contemplating going to a BDO, but the poor lineup put me off.

And the fact that i already have U2 tickets.

Cue the throng of lamewads again bemoaning the supposed poor BDO line-up this year...

Tbh I'm rubbing my hands together after hearing this news. The Stripes sideshow is on the same night as Common. If TWS postpone, it means I'll be able to see them both. Word.

I've just put my ticket on eBay. I'm shattered! Mylo is my favourite artist and has been for a long time, he was the only reason I wanted to go. I was going to put up with all the other dodgy acts just to see him for an hour! Shattered!!

I agree with Godz tho, there are alot of good acts still there. Franz Ferdinand, Kid Kenobi & MC Sureshock and the Hilltop Hoods, who I wouldn't mind seeing live. Still, this isn't shaping up to be a great BDO with the two biggest acts pulling out. I don't really listen to AFI (mates do) but I would of liked to see them.

FTR, I hope Mylo's condition improves soon. It sounds like a very serious problem, and permanent loss of hearing would well and truly cut his career short. It's a shame, because the man is a electronic dance genius.

What's wrong with the line-up?
I wish I could go but can't get out of work. But if the White Stripes dropped out it would really suck.

I can't belive the programming this year

White Stripes the main event, just after Iggy and the Stooges and Franz Ferdinand, yet some one like Mudvayne is on at 2 o'clock in the arvo. Last time the White Stripes played, they only got a gig in a tent (at the Gold Coast).

Beast of Bourben are on at the same time as Living End :(

it certainly isn't as good as previous years, but I've said this before and at the end I have been amazed at how good some of the bands were that I hadn't seen before

looking forward to next Sunday

I think the White Stripes are a little bigger than they were in 2003 when they played last. Also I think they put some of the heavier bands on early to avoid any problems like with Limp Bizkit a few years ago.
System Of A Down were one at 4ish one year.

Iggy might be orright.

Iggy just allright ? This guy will blow EVERYONE away. He's a legend and a half and rocks harder than today's pussies.

I bet you will love Iggy better than any other act when you see him live mate :)... he's a freak.

Haha, worst BDO ever!

You know you're struggling when has-beens are the main act .

Though I'm happy for the Red Riders to be playing the Sydney BDO, go see them!!
