Anything worth seeing at the BDO is much better to see in the band's solo show (assuming they do one, which most international acts do), unless you want to spend the day in the sweltering heat surrounded by psudo goths, 13-yo girls in rainbow coloured socks with their favorite bands name written on their shirts because the can't afford the bands actual merchandise and other dorky subcultures.

Cynism is fun! :D

Do solo shows usually have 30+ bands?? No? I didnt think so...

I agree with your comments about the type of ppl the Big Day Out usually attracts but it is possible to enjoy the bands and the day without being concerned about the type of people you dont usually associate with...

When will people learn nothing major gets announced on the last announcement? The CD is already out and a quick look on that would show you nothing else was added that was not on that CD! If you were waiting for AC/DC for the 3rd announcement you are a fool.

But...if you are going...go see Money Mark - outstanding live.

rise against would be the best band to see on that line up. they ahve already annouced solo headline shows so the bdo is definite no go for me this year.

The 3rd annoucement is just a few Aussie bands or DJs that are available to play that's all.

Going to solo shows is all good, I missed Livid last year and just saw the White Stripes instead, but it's the BDO. It's a good day no matter what really.

I'd go just to see Dallas Crane & The Mess Hall. Both fantastic bands.. if you haven't checked them out.. do so now!

I can vouch for The Mess Hall. Brilliant band & excellent performers. They've developed the reputation of being one of the best support acts in the country for visiting guests.

Have seen them support The Strokes & Gerling. have also seen them at The Annandale...
