Bra…The Perth branding is the North Sydney branding. Do you live in the universe as the rest of us?

PVL’s literally made sure that the Perth Bears branding is that of North Sydney.
Hmm ding dong doesn’t like directly answering direct questions asked of him it seems.

None of which has anything to do with the topic of Perth Bears branding or merchandise.

C'mon peeps, please don't turn this thread into another 'this person vs that person' constant arguing thread. It's boring and repetitive for everybody else.

They look good ... but as North Sydney jerseys.

Problem I have with these are that whomever did them is just presuming Perth Bears is just a complete continuation of North Sydney.

I don't mind Perth Bears tapping into North Sydney's jersey history as a heritage / pre-game training shirt design, ect, but for mine, the club's main / home jersey should be its own unique design, free of any Norths or Western Reds history.

I hope one day soon, Perth Bears will have one predominately red jersey with a touch of black, and a mostly black jersey with a touch of red. Much like that early 90s red Norths jersey (but obviously not that jersey exactly, re: my post above!).

if the inaugural home jersey is in fact the classic red & black hoops then its a modernised bears jersey either way.
the beauty though is that bears never really wore the types of jerseys (material, make, shape) that we have in the nrl now. their last jersey still had collars and longer sleeves etc.

so even if the prints are traditional norths, the jerseys themselves will still be new in a sense that they've never been that done like that before for nrl.

De Ceglie has gone on record saying it'll be traditional red and black hoops, but that could always just be their equivalent of the Dolphins' heritage reveal. The Phins dropped that look way ahead of time to build the brand in 2021, then waited until everyone else was doing their post-Grand Final reveals in 2022 to finally drop the proper Home and Away kits with the low chevrons on the gut.

The Bears don't really have the same lead time so they may just be returning to the NRL with the Souths/Easts approach of hunkering down on the historical identity as a proud foundation club, which will rattle the foundation deniers who desperately oppose acknowledging the pre-existing history.

The great thing about the Norths back catalogue is there's plenty to draw from, as seen above, even just in that final decade when they were last in first grade.

I wouldn't say many of us are "Foundation Deniers". It is really about setting the club up to be popular and accepted in Perth. Whether Bears fans in Sydney connect with the club is a secondary concern.

Fans in Perth = Must have
Fans in Sydney = Nice to have

You're right, the 'foundation deniers' are a vocal minority, but a lot of them aren't even in WA. It's mostly armchair expansionists who want the sport to thrive but are missing a lot of the practical info.

From a club-building perspective, Fans = Must Have, no matter where they are from. If the club is bolstered from the beginning with an 118-year-old brand, you’re tapping into a national diaspora from generations of families who have relocated all over the country, including WA. Especially now, with the game going global and broadcast eyeballs being such a heavy metric for the NRL.
