So Souths want Greg Inglis, but dont really have the cap to fit him. The Storm have Greg Inglis, but dont really want him and also cant afford him under the cap either. So, as a result Souths plan to have Inglis but are now between a rock and a hard place and need to offload some players to get Inglis.....So, they're initial players they have offered up for negotiation (Champion & Crocker) appear to be players with quite large back-ended contracts, who arent really worth the money Souths will have to pay them in 2011, so they might as well try and get them off the books. Parra is really the only Club in a position to take them. The Cowboys have been mentioned, but its a big ask to go up there with their results in 2010..... The Raiders probably have some coin, but I think they will wait as long as possible to sign Orford... There is talk Crocker might retire....I really cant see him retiring as his nice back ended contract would be enough incentive to stay around....
It appears Parra are the ones with the best bargaining position....so we will see if something eventuates.... The longer this drags on the more nervous Souths and Melbourne are going to become. If they can offload all three, they might be prepared to pay for some percentage of the contract at the new Club (depending on what they can offload them all for)....Melbourne will be pushing for a result on this ASAP, because as far as I am aware, Inglis is technically being paid by the Storm so is already using up some of their Cap for 2011.....
Should be an interesting week....
