Macca is obviously a fullback. He has no idea what he is doing on the wing. Watch him look to the middle of the park for big guys to scoot through when he gets the ball.

Peni will be a wonderful player in the future. Ryan won't be. He doesn't have the physical attributes or natural ability to be any more than a tryer. A good PL centre at best.

McDonnell is a spastic.

Would not get close to FG at any other club.

JB cant get the no1 jumper in reggies and rightly so why would you even think of throwing him the no1 jumper in the main game. The guy would be a standout in group 6 but in FG will never make it in any postion, probably a great guy but the list of players in front of him for a wing or fullback is getting longer and longer as the years roll on. Now maybe the raiders might be interested in a fullback come winger--free some coin up for that mystery front rower

I've seen him do things that Hodgo or Gallant don't simply have the natural ability to do.

Whether or not he will develop physically to be able to play FG is an interesting question. Anyone who hasn't seen what I'm talking about is a niff nuff who hasn't watched enough of the right football and simply doesn't know what they're talking about.

If they insist on playing Benji at half, the team should be this:
1. Ryan
2. Tuiaki
3. Collis
4. Lawrence
5. Tagive
6. Moltzen
7. Marshall

I'm not usually negative about future prospects. But how f**ked are we. If O
Hara actually leaves we have 3 props at best and offloaded the two second rowers we have with poly flair.

Ellis will probably be dropped in the front row with Laurie (anyone else notice his antics for WM the past two weeks?). We'll struggle for go forward or wide impact.

We don't have a half.

Our backs are either ineffective or still learning their trade... or crocked by injuries.

Junior isn't 'crocked' by injuries, he's just naturally crap.

It is a sad picture you paint. My hope - being a lapsed Catholic - is for Lazarus to help us rise from the dead. And we buy a prop or two.

O'Hara is GONE.

I know him personally, he's in the process all of selling his stuff to go to Wales.

We are very short on front row stocks and for the life of me can't understand while we didnt offer him a 1yr extension now that he is fully fit, even if is just to buy some time until another prop comes on the market.

Beau Ryan as potential. Reminds me a bit of Steve Turner from Melbourne, never gets a rap but gets the job done.

As for shedding props, maybe the masterplan for 2009 is to make the team super mobile....speed speed speed....in attack. Defensively we'll get steamrolled though.

because he's sh*t.

He spent two years wallowing in reggies for a good reason, he couldn't even get into good enough form to push back rowers out of the front row.

Blind freddy can see that he hasn't hit anywhere near his previous form, but with prop stocks already so low, he would of been good to keep on as a back up for another season.. anyway.

Glad we resigned Ryan, he's been one of not many good things to happen this year.

westie how the hell ccan u bag this signing when our options are Tuiaki who was ordinary, lazy and turns slower than a Mack truck, Peni who held one ball every two and McDonnell wouldnt get a gig on the wing at Wenty.

As for keeping OHara, christ that just proves how little you know about the game, this bloke was one of the top 3 earners at the club, for what? Better he go than insult him and offer 1/3 of what he is currently on for him to stay! Good riddance, he was below average at best.

but if he can't push back rowers out of the front rower position, why keep him?

get rid of him and use the massive amount of money he was on to buy a decent prop who actually deserves that money.

Fair enough Mad Unit.

But what pops are left on the market ?

Reserve Grade Props ?

If he wasn't willing to take a big pay cut, then yeah no problems, get rid off him.

I was talking about what they've done to Collis' body playing him injured. He's clearly no good at the moment.

O'Hara is gone because of internal disagreements. I don't care how sh*t he is (I think he's the only forward we have with grunt)... a sh*t prop is better than no prop at all.

Tuiaki and Peni are currently no good. But we aren't going to win the comp next year. We can win it with those two in form. We can't with Ryan because he's simply not good enough.

The big worry Ohara's money is already spent on backloaded contracts, their is bugger all if any to buy a mystery prop. Unless Teflon Tim can find a buyer for a few of our duds nothing much will be diferent come 2009.

Dean Collis has never played a decent game in first grade. After 3 years in first garde he still gets selected on the 'potential' tag. WT should be shopping him around to other clubs like they did with Bronson Harrison.

You are deadset... I can't even think of a word.

Whenever he has had a good winger outside him he has been amazing. The way he can skip to the outside of a bloke to create a two on one or make it in to the back field is a skill I've only seen in top quality rep footballers.

The fact that he can no longer run or play more than a week to two in a row is a horrible occurance which I'm sure resulted from him being played when he had a sore leg a year or two ago? Coincidentally because he was absolutely crucial to us at the back end of the season.

I'll also argue that his poor form has also coincided with Ryan's appearance on the wing. It's frustrating as hell watching him double teamed because the defenders know Ryan has no pace. When crockett etc were outside him he was devastating, as was he wing partner or the second rower inside him - see Teo at LO last year against the Cows perhaps?
