Egan was poorly advised to go to NZ. Clubs don’t keep guys that want out around now

How do you come to that conclusion? He's the starting hooker in a team where he will likely be able to use his running game a lot more & without the added pressure of being at this club. It's a great move for the kid.

IMO Ivan needed to push the blame onto someone for such a poor season. He scapegoated players & pigeon holed players into certain postions/styles very quickly. The old 'this is not my squad'.

How was he scapegoated? Because we signed Api? That is ridiculous, signing Api doesn't mean Egan was scapegoated. Improving the squad isn't scapegoating someone. Egan was told they want him to stay and he preferred to leave as we signed one of the top hookers in the comp, as of right now it looks like a good move for him and hopefully it pans out but all that stuff about him being scapegoated is an invented narrative.

I'd have

6. Tavita-Harris
7. Green
9. Nikorima

If I was picking Warriors team. Then guys like Taveaga etc possibly push him off the bench.

We needed a hooker. We have a top 5 hooker now...That simple

I've got no issue with signing Api, I mentioned signing Api very early on. Egan has just been named 9 in what looks like a full strength side.

@betcats we came out of the gate like a busted. We looked unfit across the board & uncoordinated in attack, which (imo) is down to the coaching staff. From my view, instead of identifying those issues as coaches, he seemed to put a line through a bunch of players. Mostly the '2nd tier' guys like Sele, Fui, Katoa, Egan etc. For example, Fui ain't a superstar but he's a solid bench backrower who was only used out of position & after he struggled out of position, he never got another sniff. Sele was pushing for a starting spot Rnd 1, had great reports across the board but after our poor start to the season (where he got limited minutes), completely fell out of favour & never got another look in. IMO our season got back on track as the fluency & fitness improved due to playing regularly, as opposed to the players that were pushed out or came in.

I think Katoa & Egan were in the same boat. Am I glad we signed Api? Absolutely, terrific player. But I also think we'll see there's a fair bit more upside to Katoa & Egan then what we saw.

I agree that Katoa and Egan are better then what we saw last year but they weren't just dropped after a few weeks never to be seen again, they were given chances to play themselves into form.

I think our run of form directly coincided with Dallin and then Waqa going, not so much Egan/Katoa getting dropped but I think Kenny when he came in provided solid service and better defence and it was a huge improvement on what we had been getting for the year at that point.

You can say it is harsh that Katoa wasn't re-signed and Hame and Fui also I wont argue but all three have been replaced with vastly superior players(Api, Capewell and Tetevano), its a cut throat business where winning is the most important thing and that means making harsh decisions sometimes, there isn't a club out there that wouldn't make those changes IMO.

The top clubs are the harshest when it comes to roster management.

Nah the top clubs, expect the players to be understandable about the cutthroat business, to the point of salary sacrifices to stay there as a working unit.

Roosters have guys like mitch Aubuson
Who would retire rather than look elsewhere for more pay, and they pay him pittance, so they can pay the cronks and tedescos of the club.
Melbourne storm are masters of it, how do you seriously have smith, cronk, GI, falou, slater, chambers all in a team, you have guys on pittance elsewhere, and no one questions it, they win premierships, clubs are successful.
This is where we have to go, we cannot be signing guys like matterson, xerri and dugan. We should be paying pittance to stalwarts and buying cronks

You're right they definitely do that and we need to be better at it. I will say that storm roster is the one that got done for salary cap cheating and they had to lose GI.

Yeah but other teams got done too, how have they succeeded in comparison?
Pawwa, Manly, Canterbury... Melbourne still reign regardless, all the other clubs are just dumb
Im waiting till this whole back2back business bullshit is stripped from to Rorters, im feeling like 6again

In this competition it wouldn't surprise me. Even Panthers had that thing with Maloney publicly announcing a dodgy TPA.

Is Kaide Ellis injured or is there another reason he is not named? A couple of clubs are still sniffing around for some back up forwards. Thought it strange he is not named.

The warriors are pretty desperate for middle forwards right now, they’ve lost two in the last week to acl injuries.

I had a feeling there may have been another motive and perhaps he was may have been to going to pursue an opportunity elsewhere. Would appear not to be the case. All good.

I think Kenny should of done the same thing so no issue it will have same affect

Yeah Lenui is a keeper.

Spencer is our future and not going anywhere,

I have heard continued murmurs about one of our fringe forwards perhaps looking at opportunities elsewhere. The injury to Chris Smith on the weekend leaves the Bulldogs a little short and a good mate of mine at golf today suggested there may have been an approach for one of ours which I assume can only be Kaide Ellis.

Let's hope it's Ellis and not leniu Spencer is a weapon not sure why he's playing reggies either injured or out of favour.I assume with 26 players we may split the squad into to 13 a side teams and play 40 mins each hence the naming of Brendan hands in the squad.
