If we let him go and are still paying part of the remaining salary for this season our management are geniusED. Bulldogs would of been desperate for outside back cover...

Overheard a rumour at Mt Smart today that Dean Bell will be signing another ex-Warrior to come home from Super League.

Like Leuluai, he's also a lot younger than I thought he was.

Oh no.

I thought Bell had gone so he could be out of the country when his great signing Inu departed.

Ah crap, better not be Mckinnon.

I'm trying to think of younger players we let go.. Louis Anderson would fit

Anderson (26)
Lauaki (28)
Mellers (28)
Ah Van (24)

Those guys would be the only ones who might be considered surprisingly young imo, and I really don't see anything there that would add value to the team other than depth.

What exactly does Bell do with his time? How many players has he signed in the last couple of years? How many have been outstanding? or even competent?

If Anderson is the best he can come up with the trip has been a waste of time.

Anderson is in his first of 3 seasons with the Dragons, I doubt we want him so bad to break his contract.

Trip is a no brainer imo...Warriors struggle to attract topline aussies (or kiwis) from across the ditch.
It aint just about signing and bringing back players now...but setting up networks.

Hell, I would even recommend them sending over players that are too old for NYC.
Guys like Dylan Collier, Agnatius Paasi etc for a couple years in SL and then potentially bring them back.

But my main point - people are quick to judge him
but remember he has been in charge for junior recruitment.
The Warriors identify, sign and hold of to the majority of junior talent.
He does that not ackland.

I know John Acklands gets all the credit of being a coaching genius...but in all fairness..any joe blogss could coach our 20s to some success.
He gets given 50 out of the top 60 players in the country every off season.

Yeah, I take your point.
I'm just a bit grumpy today.

However I will say one more thing.
Whilst our Juniors are great the positions we need to fill from outside should be top class - not just average players.
We need to be building for the future.

Yeah, we seem to be doing what we've always done, and getting what we've always got.
I admit I'm a bit downcast about the Warrior atm, and not optimistic at all. But worse than that, I don't feel passionate enough to care. Got bored in the second half, to me they just looked like a team that wasn't going to win, and changed channel. Switched back to see late Storm tries...and I just shrugged. Didn't care because it's what I expected tbh.
We just do not seem to move forward, same shit, different season. To me, with our resources, we should be a Broncos or a Storm...but nothing ever seems to change or build.
Yeah Rich, I'm a bit grumpy this morning too!
