A rejuvenated Craig Bellamy is considering activating a clause in his contract that will see him stay head coach of Melbourne until the end of 2018 - if he has the backing of Storm's powerbrokers.

Bellamy is out of contract at the end of next season but isn't ruling out another two seasons after steering the NRL club into a top four finish and then a preliminary final, which Melbourne hosts on Saturday week.
The 55-year-old hasn't missed a finals series since taking on the role in 2003, with the exception of the 2010 salary cap scandal when they were unable to earn competition points.
But Bellamy said he wouldn't re-sign without the full support of the board and new chief executive Dave Donaghy.
"I'd like to have the club's opinion on it as they might think it's time for somebody else as I've been here for a long time," Bellamy said.
"I'd like to think that's not the case but the CEO might have an opinion that they want to give it to someone younger.
"If I was to go again, I'd like to have their full backing and that will be part of the discussion.
"It will be my decision but if they have any doubts I'd like to hear them."

This is a bear that is easily awoken, it seems.

I thought that Brown was going to be the heir to Melb. But since his departure, makes sense that Craig will stay a while longer. Giving up the game is easier said than done.
Even though melb are cheating, wrestling Antichrist scum. Good news.
Craig is a personality of the game. Who doesn't enjoy his tirad's in the coaching box?

Why would he.

Without him I doubt the Storm even register on the viccy sporting landscape as they do today.

I for one look forward to whatever new tactic he'll come up with the try and further ruin the game

No doubt you understood that, does it mean your mob will be happy to continue copying Bellamy like everyone else . . . surely another way can be found to beat the bloke even if it can't be done with equal quality troops

living proof that cheaters do win

no doubt if they didn't cheat the cap then their big 3 wouldn't be together today, the fact they cheated it put this "us vs them" mentality, ever since all 3 players have been determined to remain united

they should of been forced to find a new team altogether, don't want to drag this topic through the mud again but when I think of Craig Bellamy that's instantly what I think of, a guy who coached a team that cheated the cap and was able to keep his best 3 players for the remainder of their playing careers whilst other teams like Manly have had their core ripped in half.. why? because that's the way the salary cap works

Do you feel the same way about the Bulldogs after 2002?

I wasn't aware that the coach was covered by the salary cap.

You don't know shit from good chocolate, sunshine.

I wonder if Souths would have won a premiership without Rusty's funding or if Manly would have won a premiership without the Penn or whoever it was who owned Manly's funding?

You don't need a long neck to be a goose, fella.

It's not if they do, it's if they got caught doing it. Unless there is a whistle blower or the club fesses up the nrl seems unable to discover it on there own.
