Great to see Frank Samia and John Sinisa playing so well in Premier league. Andrew le Breton was doing great until being injured. (Hope he`ll be back soon.) If only Cookie was playing. We should all make a concerted effort to persuade him back. He`d be a sensation in this better combination. Does anyone agree? :?:

Fullback or wing. Very gutsy player who shone in some of our less wonderful line-ups in past years.

He can be quite inspirational - when the rest of the team's going backwards, Cookie's likely to return a kick flat out with absolutely NO regard for his own safety.

Possibly not the most naturally gifted back you've ever seen, but tries his heart out all game every game.

I agree with that Dawson Twins. He is the true Bluebag never say die kind of a player. The kind of player that Henson regulars love to like the most. That is what Newtown is, the never say die club and a player like that is missed.

The team are now starting to play as a team. Felt like asking for my $30 seat money back at Parra stadium last weekend. Although the loss of Beau SCOTT, STOSIC, Le BRETON from the ranks must have had some impact iniatially.

The other half of 2 True Blues started this, however I agree with her, in that I believe Ben is the kinda player that inspires a crowd, and is pasionate to his club. Everyone likes to see a player give 100% even if they lose the game. COOKEY is that kinda player. I think he could play in almost any Premier league team in this comp and be an asset to the team.

Hope you change your mind COOKEY. You are a great player mate.......

He was in Jim Beam Cup, however in time would have progressed to fill injury and/or suspension in the ranks I would imagine. In the mean time would probably make a habit of scoring trifecta s in the Jim Beam Cup competition, sending the Jets Beam team to the top of the table, whilst keeping his match fitness up.

Time will tell. Players with passion like that, and guts to match inspire the other players in a team, and lift them. Sorry to see him go

not bagging him out,
just saying that in premier league the 2 wingers john sinisa and dimitri pelo and full back nathan merrit
would you put cooky in before them???
he just seems to be a player who takes a lot of risk which crowd likes, but can be team killer with dropped ball.

How many years have you been watching the Jets. Ben COOk used to play years ago, and held his own then. He then went over seas. Returning to still having not much footy unbder his belt, holding his own in Premier league.

The reason he is not in the side is probably due to the place having to be filled by Cronulla signings firstly prior to anything else.

However it is a shame he is not playing for the club at all, as is a great player, and is part of the " strong arsenal " of depth that we had this year. Which may be rewuired to step up to vacancies which are likely to occur some time this year due to 1st grade injury and/or suspensions.

Ricky ROBERTS scored three great trys in Beam cup, it was a shame the crowd was so small, however the Jets fought hard, and it was an entertaining and hard fought win.

well just saying at the moment he would not be in premier league imo
as nathan merrit is a genuine first grader, and is too good for premier league
and the 2 other wingers john sinisa has been in great form as he would be quickest player signed with newtown and his defence has been top notch and the other winger dimitri pelo from cronulla has been going strong, very similar to matt utai the way he plays.

It is definately a strong team, the strongest since year 2000. And we definately had a good side that season. Almost made the eight.

The Jim Beam Cup crowd was one of our best for a while. And the lads turned it on. Hope we get a good turnout to watch us take on the Bulls.

Was a great game. Came back from some poor decisions ( like the ref calling held, so Newtown backed off the player, then he just scores a try ) which is given etc...

Apart and despite of that the team came back stonger and harder and really fought for the win. it was great to see. They never gave up and really believed in themselves. Ricky ROBERTS is definately a good player.

Good to see ex Newtown player Dean LODER scoring a try for Souths last weekend. FA LOGO is still playing first grade for them too. Wonder where Garth WOOD is this season and the other Newtown players that went to Souths.

Final result Wests 70 ;-) Souths 10 #-o . Must be a newspaper misprint.

Big game at Cambelltown stadium this Friday night. Hope all you Jets fans will be making the trip. Would be good to go into a bye with another win under the belt.

Hope souths just played bad, other wise Wests may be a tough nut to crack However until that win they had had one bye, and won one from two games. were minus 28. Now they are one 6 points and plus 32 for and against.

Big game coming up.......

Could have done with Ben COOK on Saturday at henson. 12 nil with five minutes to go against Sydnery bulls in first half until rawiti scored making it with a hamo conversion 12 to 6 at half time.

Then they put on about ( i lost count ) a 26 to 4 second half, with only another Rawiti try bringing a smile of salvation to Newtown fans faces, admidst what was a dissapointing return to the side for Dave BENNET, Thomas GEMMEL, and a dropped John SINISA. who like the rest of team did not gel as a side at all, and were all appearing to play in second gear. Not worth the effort to even watch. Made Bulls look better than they were.

Thomas gemmell played with what appears to be a medial injury to his knee for much of the game and Reweti and Roberts may have broken hands as well and David Vial suffered an injury during the game so we did have some other problems.
