Ennis, TLL and Prince are good examples .. Taylor not really as he didn't have much of a run in 1sts .. I would be thinking that the criteria would be blokes that have played a decent amount of grade under bennett before leaving and developing futher.

Anyway - some other players Robbie Ross, Anthony Mundine (Was obviously better in 99 than 97), Luke Priddis, Ashley Harrison, Brad Meyers, Eastwood didn't fare too bad after leaving Bennett.

Players to leave him and develop are in the minority though .. He does have a good eye for talent and generally has the unlimited resources of the thoroughbreds and his coaching predominantly being in a one team town where cap pressure is not as extreme in other places.

It's a fact that no player has ever left Wayne Bennett and became a better player elsewhere. I challenge anyone to prove me wrong.

Hunt is just another turd polished by Wayne himself. Without Wayne applying the polish you are simply left with a turd.

Do you understand what "it's a fact" means?

Nope.

Darcy Lussick left Manly then came back. Ryan Hoffman left Storm to return as did Liam Fulton for the Tigers.

Thats 3 off the top of my head and I am sure there are plenty more.
Panthers have had a few in the last decade. None of them were players that were missed though or really overly successful on return.

Peter Wallace - Panthers > Broncos > Panthers
Shane Elford - Panthers > Tigers > Panthers
Danny Galea - Panthers > TIgers > Raiders > Panthers
Geoff Daniela - Panthers > Tigers > Panthers

Peter Wallace has been the most successful player to return, and really only due to making a successful switch to hooker. When the better players leave, they tend to be valuable to the club they go to and that club tries to hold onto them. It's usually only the average ones that return.

The exception would be Darius Boyd... and he didn't choose to return to Broncos. He just followed Bennett wherever he went.

Bennett will find a gun replacement. He always does.

Some young half that was born and raised in NSW and has been under development with a Sydney club since he was 15 that once visited a relative in Brisbane for two weeks back in 2010 will suddenly become "homesick" and want to go back there.

Has Nathan Cleary got any long lost relo's in Brisbane?

Actually I'm a Bronco supporter but it's largely forgotten that the late Peter Jackson didn't have a great tenure when he had a two year stint at the Broncos. He missed out on selections for Queensland and Australia during this period. He moved to the North Sydney Bears, and became the focal point of the attack and went onto have a very successful career until he was forced into retirement with a head injury.

Cleary is under contract until the end of 2019. I very much doubt the Panthers would give him an early release. I mean he gave up the provision to leave when Ivan was punted as coacxh to extend the contract. As such I doubt "relos in Brisbane" could persuade him (assuming he has any there) if he elected to stay with Penrith after they fired his Dad.

But he was good when Bennett coached him at the Raiders and Souths Maggies.

Dragons dropped the ball, cause no way Ben Hunt is worth six million. Now Karmichael Hunt or Jonathan Thurston, I wouldn't have mind if the Panthers paid one of them six million.

I don't think its a bad move by STGI but I think $3M over 3yrs would have done the trick. 5yrs with 1yr in his favour makes me cringe a bit. I honestly can't recall a 5yr deal that worked out for the Club.

DCE was a bit different I think. Manly weren't bringing in a new player, but retaining one. They were in a position where they were looking at going from 2 awesome halves to losing both at the same time which would probably be a more monumental f**k up than signing DCE long term.
