Ben Jefferies

After doing well and looking good for a few years, Ben got stitched up by another dodgy club with niff nuff coach at Bradford this year and is off to Wales for next year for a new start.

Watching him a little bit lately and from what I remember - he was always a good halfback in the true sense of the word. Organised well, kicked long and short, put players over for tries.

I saw more good from him in one games' highlights from his time with us than any other player to put on the 7 since Prince left, bar Head.

Point? We've got Benji and Farah, all we need is a decent, cheapy half like Jefferies (not specifically him) and we're a top side. I have to say it was nice seeing WT players flying into gaps with quality short delivery again.

Ben Jefferies was great. He was the halfback playing behind a powderpuff forward pack and a talentless backline. Had a great start to the year in 2002, i didnt think he really trailled off but Sheens wasnt keen and he was gone by years end.

A real waste. Was definetly a talent.

apparently the magpies had a deal done with luke walsh but the tigers knocked it on the head, not sure how true this is?

anyways the fact we didnt even make a play for walsh is a joke. put him in our team and we would be killing it.

Well, if Westie reckons he is a good half, I'm happy for him to not be with our club.

My memories of him are that he was pretty good for a while but didn't keep it up.

westie's had a boner for this bloke for years.

while he's right we should see if we can get a quality halfback on the cheap, I don't think you need to look to england when there's Josh Lewis sitting in reggies waiting for a crack at first grade

all i remember from Jeffries is he had the best kicking game out of any Halfback we have had since we started in 2000. Would always find the turf on the tryline

From what I know; his knees were so bad he virtually could not train, let alone play a full season at NRL level. Sad though, because he was a true half, of which there aren't many left.

Similar story to Matt Head I guess.

Westie's warming up for the A league when he can flog himself silly over facts such as `Mark Rudan is better than Beckenbauer' and `Dave Carney is a blond George Best'

Because he can't kick, pass or organise, everything any number of ordinary halves we never liked COULD do. I never said these guys were world beaters, just that they were a damn sight better than the dross we're playing with now.

When we the last time we had a half who kicked well or put someone over for a try. Something Jefferies still does every week, regardless of how good he is.
