What a croc of sh*t those ARIA awards are.

If Ben Lee is the cream of the crop in relation to Australian music then that just shows how pathetic our music is....probably a reason why i never listen to it.

Even the f**king film clip is seriously f**k up.....but being Australian music he was rewarded for it.

Just think back 20 years ago people wanted to be David Lee Roth, Jon Bon Jovi, Axl Rose, Angus Young and now today we have .......Ben lee and his "and thats the way i like"... pure musical genius...he probably wrote that song on his morning tea break or while taking a dump.

Ben Lee is crap and he's songs all sound sh*t & his alleged lyrical abilities is just a myth......he just looks like a good song writer because he can't really do all that much else....but the fact is he's actually pathetic.

Please don't debate me on this one, i have at my disposal the lyrics to many of his songs and if he is considered to be a good song writer then i'm Julian Clarie.

Ben Lee's lyrical ability isn't too flash in general and on awake is the new sleep it's shameful at best. I rate him as a musician.

But from what i've seen of his none of his songs lyrics aren't anything that hard that a 14 year old could write?

I once saw him on Dave Letterman.....and i cringed as he pumped out 5 minutes verbal sh*t thinking "oh boy...not all of us like his stuff believe me".

He doesn't look like a musician so it's pretty easy just to call him a good song writer as he does look like one.

H eshould take some lessons from Peter Garrett on song writing.....he'd learn a heap in one session.

Cannot wait until more people in the Australian music scene realise who After The Fall and Gyroscope are. Both those bands are great Aussie talent, and deserved to get recognised for their efforts. Better then this Ben Lee rubbish

ATF and Gyroscope are a completely different genre to ben Lee - same goes for Axl Rose, David Lee Roth, et al. It is not fair to the guy to compare him to genre's that you are obviously big fans of.

I agree his music writing is weak at best, but at least compare apples with apples...

Fair enough....but what i was trying to explain was that this guy is someone that musicians use as a gage as to where their up to musically.....if i was to base myself on Ben Lee then i'm sorry i wouldn't learn that much, but say someone like Axl Rose.....he's a benchmark for a great voice...you know it would take many years to get close to the talents he has....same as a guitar player wanting to be the next Ed Van Halen.

Who would you choose from the 70's or 80's that would compare with Ben Lee?...pop singers like David Bowie, Sting leave him for dead....their just isn't any comparison...even a bloke like Iva Davies from IceHouse would never have to look over his shoulder to Ben lee.= because he'd never get close to the abilities of this artist.

Isn't it amazing how people seem to fall for this ARIA sh*t. I notcie his crap single and album have jumped back up the charts just because he was given some f**ked up award. The recent ARIA awards just shows how poor mainstream Australian music has become.

As for the Aratri's and their song - Does anyone else think it's a bit egomanical for an established American band to write a song about how much they hate a (at the time the song was written) a barley known Australian artist? Wankers.

I for one like Ben Lee - sure 'Catch My Disease' got a bit out of hand with it's airplay, but the man has written some quality songs over the years - Breathing Tornadoes and Hey You, Yes You were both excellent albums. Awake Is The New Sleep may not be upto the same standards as its predecesors but it's still a good album.
